We spent 3 nights here (4 adult ladies) and would definitely go back! Nice patio to sit on, 6 steps down and your right on the beach. We had a ground floor room, so if you like more privacy, I'd recommend the 2nd or 3rd floor units. We had a 1-bedroom with a small kitchen and dining area. Also a queen bed in the 'living' area. Not a large unit, but fine for a few days. Nice and clean and all the basics for house-keeping. Regular size fridge, which was nice. Pool and hot tub were very enjoyable, but lots of kids :) . The beach is gorgeous, but water is cold as usual on the Oregon coast. We were lucky enough to see gray whales right from our hotel room, and you can see lots of starfish and anemones in the tidal pools a short walk up the beach. Only complaint about the unit was the tap in the bathroom sink - very difficult to turn on, and you might want to ask for extra pillows :) . Staff was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: If you want privacy, you might want to consider a 2nd or 3rd floor room - patio on ground floor is s...

with my sister visiting from Las Vegas, I wanted a beach front hotel, This was fantastic! great ocean front view, walk to the beach and everyone there was pleasant. I live just an hour and a half away, and I will be back again and again. I can bring my dog! We had a wonderful time. Thank you Sand Castle, and the price is right!

The location is wonderful which is why I decided to try it once again, but I won't do any followup visits. The view and nearness to the ocean are great, but otherwise I felt like I was staying in an economy Motel 6. The towels and washclothes couldn't be any thinner. The pillows couldn't be any flatter. Carpet had a burn spot in front of the fireplace, dresser looked like it had just come from Goodwill - very marred and scratched up. Signs - you can't smoke on the balcony, you can't feed the seagulls from your balcony. Aren't we the PAYING CUSTOMER? I'd much rather pay an extra $20 or $30 a night at a different motel that has comfortable beds, nice pillows, fluffy towels and nice looking furniture. Disappointed with the Sandcastle - it use to be a nice "find."

Wow...where do i start with this one...First of all i went through all the reviews posted here about this motel and almost all were good to decent. I was a little worried about the reviews saying there was a noise issue...but wanted to take the chance with that one...and glad we did!!!

When we arrived and entered our room we were pleasantly surprised to see the view out...The ocean is your backyard!!! You have a little balcony and some lawn chairs to sit and just relax if you wanted. I am a clean freak when traveling and this place was spotless and smelled clean...the room was nice, with a small fridge, microwave, gas fireplace, dvd player, and a 32" flat screen, and 2 cup coffee maker. We had the king size bed, and it was a firm but comfy sleep. The motel was easy to access from hwy 101, and located about 2 miles from the town of Taft. Lots of places near by to eat and shop at. The price is next to nothing especially during the summer months...the price of 2 weekend nights compared to the many hotel/motels out there was a steal. The motel also offers a indoor pool (3'-5') and a spa, which is located towards the back and has a window view of the ocean. It also offers a small vending machine with sodas and waters and a snack one as well. The beach access is super, just go down the stairs and out the back and you are on the beach! This place had an array of ages and many families. We were on the top floor and were not bothered by any noise other than the sound of the ocean! We were able to see that the motel offers many different sizes of rooms...some with large living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms...great place for any occasion!
The only downfall for this place is that the balconies are very close together, and prohibit privacy when out on them. Parking is small (although they do have extra gravel parking just across the street). Oh and no hairdryers...Other than that this place is awesome!!! We will be back again and again!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 52 3rd floor...Great room!!!!

This was our 1st family vacation to the Oregon coast. My relatives have stayed here many times before and totally raved about it. We booked their Captains Quarters. It is HUGE!!! We had 3 families stay in it and also had other family staying in another room. We all gathered in our room which didnt feel cramped with 8 adults and 4 kids visiting. The room was clean and we got service everyday. Staff didnt bug you or get in your business, which I found so relaxing like it was my 2nd home. The easy access to the beach is A+ for me and my little ones. I LOVED sleeping with the sliding glass door cracked open so I could hear the ocean all night. The smell and sound is amazing! The swimming pool was nice and warm. Also, close to store for some milk and other things. I will only stay here when I travel to Lincoln City in the future!!!

The Sandcastle is an older establishment and dated but for what it lacks in bells and whistles it more than makes up for with the location. It is as ocean front as you can get. The prices are excellent. The rooms are clean and adequate. The ocean is literally right out the door. The beach is wonderful. We were lucky enough to have good weather but I would love to stay there in a storm. We will stay again. The grandkids loved the pool. There are restaurants close by. We had a double queen unit with a small frig, MW and coffee maker. Only complaint would be the coffee maker was very slow.

Room Tip: Request a room with a balcony.

The Sandcastle Beachfront Motel is clean with updated bathrooms. Each unit has a small kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator. The rooms are clean and simple with great views. While we were there, a small seal pup was resting on the beach near by. It was being protected by concerned citizens until the appropriate people arrived to fence off the area and let people know what the situation was. The pups rest on the beach until it's mother returns from hunting.

Room Tip: Only the bottom floor has direct access to the beach. Room #14 is directly across from the Ice Machi...
