“Amazing ocean view! ”
Reviewed 18 May 2014 via mobile

We arrived late Friday afternoon and the gentleman at the front desk was very attentive but also full of information about the town and it's attractions. The motel has fair access to the beach and we had room 119 which looked like it had been recently updated. We had an amazing view of the ocean and a fire place which was nice since we left the balcony open to hear the waves. It was our first time at the Edgecliff but it won't be our last :)

My husband and I stayed here for a "relaxing weekend" and it turned out to be far from. The first morning we got all ready to take a shower and the water would not get hot. My husband then went up to the front desk for some assistance when he was told that the hot water heater needed reset but the guy who could do it wouldn't be here till 9 or 10 she also said that if we needed to we could microwave a cup of water and wash up In the sink. They wouldn't even give us another room. Paid over 200 dollars and get no hot water and no service. Will never stay here again.

We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused by the unexpected tripping of the hot water heater safety button during the night. Clearly, this was an unforeseen event. We would like to invite this couple back and offer them a substantial discount on their next stay. Please contact us directly and ask for the manager to discuss details.

Upon learning that there was no hot water in their room, our desk clerk offered the husband of the reviewer the following options: (a) wait for the water to heat up after resetting the tripped button (about one hour wait time) thus avoiding relocation inconvenience, (b) use the adjacent vacant room’s bathroom, thus avoiding the wait time, or (c) be upgraded to a different room immediately. The gentleman elected to stay in their unit and wait until the water was warm enough for taking a shower. While in the office pondering the above options, the gentleman presented himself not to be too concerned; he stated that he could take a shower later. He either did not tell his wife about the conversation in the office, or she disagreed with his decision. Regardless, we ask that you give us another chance to make it right.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.

We were in 118 which was a pretty nice room. But there was a spider living in the sink but my husband killed that one after I tried to run water on it (it came back yuk) then I noticed that there were no screens on the sliding glass door. I am sure that there is a reason that they don't have the screens but there were bees flying into the attic since there was not a screen covering that hole and some of the bees trying coming into our room. Usually people to come to the beach to hear the ocean but it is kind of hard to leave the sliding door open a little bit with the bees right there. The gentleman that cked us in was very nice and yes just a little slow but it was ok we had no place to be. the Wi-Fi was a little slow but again that was ok I was not there to work. Over all it was a nice place to stay. Would stay there again.

Our customers appreciate 3 attributes our sliding glass doors to the balconies offer: (a) wide unobstructed ocean view from the privacy of their room, (b) the refreshing ocean breeze blowing into room, and (c) the insect screen that keeps the insects out while not spoiling the view or the breeze.

Some of our rooms have a screen door and some do not. We do our best to accommodate guests who would like this feature. Some of our guests do not want a sliding screen because it obstructs the view: when the door is open, ½ of the door’s width is glass (blurring/discoloring the view) and the other ½ is the view through the screen. For years, we have been looking for a sliding door screen which does not obstruct the beautiful view, to no avail…

We wish this guest would have informed the desk promptly about the bees entering the attic through a vent screen above the balcony; but we were apprised only at check-out. We replaced the vent screen within an hour of their departure. Our routine maintenance schedule includes replacing attic screens at the first sign of corrosion (from sea-salt exposure) and UV deterioration as to prevent flying insects to nest in the attic.

We look forward to this guest’s return and will place them in a room with a fantastic ocean view and a sliding screen door next time.

Just spent two nights in a cozy studio room at The Edgecliff Motel. Enjoyed it very much. The view was great, perfect for watching the ocean and the incoming weather. Great fireplace. This motel is south of the main part town but still close to everything you need. 6-plex theater a block away, a great cafe/pub just down the hill. Will be going back there again.

Room Tip: Every room has an ocean view. Close to town but far enough away that traffic noise is not an issue.

Lodging for two nights in this nice and friendly Motel. We had the 102, a suite with two queens and a big table for dinner, cooked in the kitchen of this suite. Kitchen is equipped for basic cooking, but you can create something. Friendly staff and at night just the roaring pacific. We enjoyed that stay and can easily recommend this Motel.

Room Tip: If you like cooking and watching the ocean the 102 is a good choice!

We arrived in Lincoln City in the evening after a long day of driving and found most of the accommodation in town had no vacancies. The Edgecliff did so we stopped to book a room and waited while the night clerk helped the couple in front of us at glacial speed. If we were not so tired we would have continued down the coast. When he finally got around to us he was not very forthcoming about what was available but instead chose a room to show us, coming with us and locking the office. The room had a nice ocean view from the balcony and a firm king bed which is what we had requested. It had a fridge and microwave but be forewarned, the room had mismatched furniture, old carpet, dingy lighting, an old bathroom that was relatively clean and a feeling of the early sixties without the nostalgia. We decided to stay only because we were exhausted. Checking in was an exercise in patience and we passed the time talking to a young couple who were waiting just as we had when we arrived.
. It met our needs but there are no deadlocks on the door or security chain. The continental breakfast consisted of yogurt, juice, some fresh fruit and some commercial cake/muffins.
While the room was relatively inexpensive compared to other motel/hotels in the area I would not consider staying at this motel again and cannot recommend it to anyone

The clerk's familiarity with the property and his keenly considering the customer’s preferences allowed him to narrow the choices of rooms to one that most closely matched the customer’s wishes. Moreover, the clerk demonstrated particular care escorting the guest to the room to ensure that his selected room actually met the guest’s needs. As expressed in this review, the guest appreciated the beautiful ocean view from the balcony, the king bed having the desired degree of firmness, the room being equipped with a microwave and a fridge...

We offer choice of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice, banana, apples, variety of fresh muffins, milk, raisin bran, etc., under the umbrella of "Continental Breakfast," which can be enjoyed at the the breakfast parlor, at the picnic table on the deck, in the privacy of the room, or on the balcony while the fresh ocean breeze wakes you up to the breaking day.

Per the guest's own presentation, the large influx of weekend visitors had left few good options for those without advance reservations. The guest's description of the accommodation--beautiful ocean view, balcony, clean room, clean bath, king bed with the right firmness, microwave, fridge, (continental) breakfast--, and the personalized treatment received late in the night are in stark contrast to this guest’s narrative and ultimate conclusion.

I have stayed here many many times and have always been happy. However this time the owner was "assisting" the front desk person. By "assisting" I mean yelling at her. I came to him asking about an issue I was having amd instead of offering to assist, he told me it was my fault. Once I finally coaxed him to the room to assist me, he insulted me and then left.

I would reccomend this place as long as he stays away from the customers.

We strive to provide excellent customer service. We train our staff to be cordial and patient; we regret that you witnessed what was an unusually frustrating situation concerning a software malfunction at the desk during a very busy weekend. Regarding the issue that brought you to the office, we assume it was your trouble with the gas fireplace. You asserted that ‘the switch’ does not turn on the fireplace. Often, guests mistake the balcony light switch for the fireplace switch. The clerk came to your room to show you that the wall thermostat control labeled “Fireplace” is located 4 ft above the floor next to the fireplace; the lever was then adjusted to your desired temperature. Once the issue was resolved, the staff rushed back to the office to tend to other pressing tasks. We regret if you mistook his haste as anything other than needing to attend to numerous issues at the desk on one of the busiest weekends of the year.
