“Mid-week at Wecoma”
Reviewed 5 November 2011

Stayed at Wecoma mid-week as a get-away from Portland. Rate was terrific, and then with AAA discount, it became all the better. Room amenities clean and new (TV, gas fireplace); their top floor will give you a partial ocean view (room 305), but this was not one of their pet-friendly rooms (which they have). A short walk to the beach for a beach walk, but walkers won't mind at all. Wecoma is on the same side of 101 as Blackfish Gallery/Cafe (an easy, safe walk to it), and just abit further is the old Pixie Kitchen (but now I'm showing my age . . . ). Self-serve breakfast was average; eat lightly and plan for an early lunch somewhere. It really is an excellent property; I travel the world, and use tripadvisor in my travels.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay! The gas fireplace in the King Deluxe room is really nice to take the chill off during this winter weather.

We enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. The breakfast was very good with a large selection of items. We will stay again and recommend it to our family and friends.

We stayed in Wecoma one night on our trip around Pacific Southwest. We shopped around and for the excellent rate we got a very spacious double queen. The room was a little worn, but very clean and beds were comfortable.

After being all comfortable surfing high-speed internet, at about 10pm we started hearing loud noise and the room was slightly vibrating. My first guess was a washer. My husband ran to front desk, complained about the noise and they promised not to run it again. Right after midnight, we started hearing the same rumbling again and very annoyed we called the front desk. They apologized and the loud rumbling noise stopped. But some other noise, which I thought was a still running dryer continued until 2:30am. Tired and angry we complained in the morning. The manager apologized that we had to complain twice and assured us, that after our second complain all the appliances were switched off and that the noise must have come from a different source. She was very apologetic and gave us a half price off. Even though we couldn't sleep, we were very happy with the service and attitude of the stuff. If we are ever in the area, we will definitely stay again.

I appreciate the time you spent speaking with me at check-out. My night staff was horrified to hear from me later that she was unable to solve your noise complaint. After your detailed and helpful description in the morning, the maintenance staff located a malfunctioning fan below the room which was the disruption to your calm, quiet evening.
Thank you again for your assistance solving that problem so that it won't affect future guests, and I hope the next time you are in the area you'll visit the hotel again so we can offer you a (new) great night's sleep at a great rate.

My husband and I stayed here for one night. We booked with our AAA discount and got a great rate $77 after tax for our deluxe king room with fireplace. As noted by other trip advisor reviews I asked for the ocean view/side of the hotel. Looking at the map on the back of the hotel room door it looks like all the king bedrooms are on the back/ocean side of the hotel and the 2 queen rooms are on the front/street side. We arived lateish 8pm and were checked in by Julia who was very nice and efficient. Our room was fantastic, more than we expected. Gas fireplace that made the room nice and toasty. Comfortable sofa. Slider on to a small balcony. We got a great room, I think, as we were at the very end with the best view of the ocean. The bed was very comfortable. There was a flat screen TV, mini fridge, coffee maker. Nice big bathroom and my only complaint would be the water pressure in the shower. Pool looked nice but we did not use it. One has to walk outside to access it and it was too cold. Easy walk to restaurants and the beach. Breakfast was fine, just as expected. The usual fare, cereal, juice, coffee, muffins, toast, bagels, waffles, fruit. Will stay here again and recommend to friends.

Room Tip: Higher floor to see the ocean.

You are absolutely right regarding the layout of the hotel. For guests new to the property, we always encourage you to call the office at 800-452-8981 as our Guest Service Representatives are trained to accommodate your special requests. When booking, request a balcony or a western view towards the ocean and we'll be able to offer those rooms.
Julia is wonderful and we're glad to see you appreciated her customer service.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on your next visit to the Central Oregon Coast.

Perfect room with balcony, upscale for price, great service at reception, within walking distance to beach & excellent seafood restaurant. Breakfast was sub-standard though.

Room Tip: Ask for room at the back to get a view of the ocean.

Glad to hear your stay was great! We love referring guests to the Blackfish Cafe just down the street from the hotel (they have an excellent bakery, too, if you feel like snacking after breakfast).

Friendly helpful staff, 24 hour desk, fan was available to us as rooms are not air conditioned. Wonderful breakfast including hot waffles! Quiet hotel, slept well, close to many amenities including grocery and drug stores, restaurants and shops. Casino close by which was very convenient too!

The only thing that would have made our stay better is if the pool temperature was warmer by 5-10 degrees. Other guests had the same complaint. We only used the hot tub and sauna and they were very nice. The exercise room looked very nice but we did not use it.

Room Tip: Very quiet rooms...we were on the first floor and did not hear any noise from other rooms around us...

The room was large and very clean. The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was OK - standard fare for a hotel continental breakfast. Did not try the indoor pool or whirlpool but they looked fine when I checked it out. It is not located on the beach and if you leave your window open you can hear the passing traffic on U.S. 101 especially if you have a room facing the highway, but for around $60 a night - it is really hard to find a better value for your money. Reading the prior reviews, the biggest negative I ran across was the quality of the included breakfast, but that is not a big issue for me - I am more concerned about the quality of the beds and cleanliness of the rooms. If you are willing to pay $150 a night somewhere else, I am sure you can get a better breakfast, but I rather have the money in my pocket.

Glad to hear your stay was good! Cleanliness & good beds are a high priority, and we'd encourage you to check out one of the balcony units on your next stay. They face away from the highway and towards the ocean (6 blocks away) plus the sounds of the surf are much more soothing compared to the road.
