“Very romantic and affordable!”
Reviewed 8 April 2011

We visited Starfish Manor for our annivesary. We were greeted by very warm and friendly staff and our room was gorgeous! We stayed in the Nautica suite which has an in-room jacuzzi tub situated adjacent to windows that overlook the ocean. There were rose petals on the bed, along with chocolates, and 2 robes that we did not pay extra for! The ocean view was perfect and the kitchenette was complete with utensils, wine glasses, plates, coffee cups, a mini-fridge, and some cookware. There is also a fireplace in the room and a deck that was great for drinking coffee and enjoying the unobstructed ocean view! An added benefit is that they do not knock on your door for housekeeping unless you request it - it was very nice to have our uninterrupted privacy. My one complaint is that the bed was not very comfortable and was hard to sleep on; also it was a queen - I would have preferred a king. Other than that, everything was excellent. We will definitely visit again!

Room Tip: Nautica Suite - Approximately $175 w/ tax

My husband (then fiance) and I stayed here while we were stressed from work and needing to get out of Seattle. Oh my gosh what an amazing choice we made. I knew right when we walked to the front desk that this was going to be perfect. The gentleman who checked us in was very sweet and offered to help up with our bags to our second floor room.

They were also very helpful when we went down to ask for good recommendations for food and drink in the area. We walked across the street for drinks before running across the beach, laughing and making a fuss. It was an amazing break from Seattle traffic and work-related stress.

Our room was overlooking the ocean - that night, we left the sliding glass door open to hear the waves and the rain. Not only that, but they had a memory book for the guests - I spent a good portion of the night reading others' accounts of their wonderful stays, and even writing our own.

Room Tip: Jaccuzzi rooms facing the ocean - amazing!

Let me say that the view was great from Room # 7. The jetted two person tub next to the window was also great. Now for the bad. The cover covering the box spring had snot on it. Didn't notice till after one night. Told the front desk. They came and removed the cover but did not replace it. Shower had cracks in it that were covered with packing tape. (Both sides of the shower.) You don't get high ratings if this is your form of maintenance. I also thought that it was strange that there was no windows that opened. The only way to get fresh air into the room was to leave the glass doors open. (There was no screen on the glass doors.) Booked this plase based on the previous reviews.

We have stayed at the Starfish Manor several times. This past visit I have to say was a huge let down for us and I think this will be our last visit. We generally get a room with a hot tub and a kitchen. The hot tub is on the deck which we love. This time the hot tub was filthy and made us uneasy to use it. The kitchen this time had dirty dishes in the cupboard which made us clean all the dishes just for sanitary reasons. The kitchen was also very poorly equipped. There were no paper towells or hot pads and the utinsel caddy didn't fit in any drawer so had to be on the counter. I found a cockroach in the bathroom and carpets are getting very worn out in the room. The toilet paper in the bathroom is what you expect to find in a Hotel 6, rough and thin. The final insult was the mattress was like a sheet of plywood. Terribly hard and uncomfortable. We were both up most of the night because the bed was so uncomfortable.
For rooms of this level and price, I do expect more. I don't think we will go back. There were just too many things that sort of took the level of the room down several notches to a very average place to stay. I can certainly find a lot of rooms in the area which are cleaner and in much better condition.

We arrived during a big storm on the coast. The room was warm and inviting, fireplace, red rose petals adorned the bed. We watched the storm in the jetted tub overlooking the mighty Pacific Ocean.Great weekend away with my Husband!!! Can't wait to return again.....

What a pleasant surprise! Best location on the beach. You have your own hot on your own private balcony which sits on the sand of the pacific ocean. Walk down the stairs from your room and get to the beach! Very private, friendly staff, clean rooms. Couldn't have asked for anymore except for it was a bit spendy, however, well worth it. We had the end unit on the 3rd level which gave you views out the window from the bed to the south and from the balcony to the west. You will not be disappointed. (Yes..., the hot tub was clean.)
