Delake Bowl is not a high-class establishment. Nor is it new, by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, the building is old and well-worn and definitely due for a thorough spring cleaning. But the bowling lane equipment all worked, and we really had a good time.

When we visited, we had just finished telling my five-year-old what zombies are, and his grandma said, "This looks like a place where we might find some zombies." But we didn't. We found a friendly (though tired-looking) man running the counter. He welcomed us, gave us our shoes, and got out the bumpers for my son.

We had a good game. No problems with the shoes; no problems with the balls; no problems with the scoring computer or the sweeper. No problems with anything. The price seemed a little on the high side for a bowling alley, but it wasn't unreasonable.

We did not try the food or drinks that were available. The restrooms were clean enough but needed some work. The carpet and most of the furniture was dingy. And the place had a vague smell of an old house that hasn't been cleaned in a few months.

But it was fun, and that's the important part. If you're looking for high tech lanes and modern decor, you won't find it here. If you're just looking for a good game of bowling, Delake Bowl will meet your needs. I rather enjoyed the nostalgic feel of the place.
