“Excellent beachfront inn”
Reviewed 11 August 2010

We recently spent 3 nights in a family suite at the Coho Lodge. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was good, not elaborate but more than adequate. We were impressed by the service level, as the staff were very helpful, provided dining recommendations, and quickly resolved a minor housekeeping issue. The renovations are very nice, the location is excellent, the pool is very clean and the firepits are a nice touch.

Someone put a lot of thought into this place – lovely room – great bed – wonderful bathroom and tub. Nice little pool and hot tub. Breakfast was good but very busy in the breakfast room. Could not believe our luck in finding this place – but then the Deal breaker – the fire pits just under the rooms. Smoke from the three pits comes straight up and into the rooms. Between the hours of 5 pm and 10 pm you have to shut your window and so the ocean front room might as well be on the Hwy. No air conditioning to filter the air so it gets stuffy. Children, seniors and people with asthma and respiratory problems beware. Also this is a fire hazard as the fire pits are close to the building and guests are left to self monitor - they light fires and then walk away leaving them burning and unattended. One guy even had bbq fluid – good thinking guy! Staff are very nice and helpful and were sympathetic about the smoke – guess I am not the only one to mention it. Close down the fire pits – you don’t need them to make your hotel a great place. Perhaps rooms at the other end of the hotel don't get the smoke - check it out before you book if smoke bothers you.

The ocean view fire pits are a very popular feature for many guests, however, their usage should not have impacted your stay as described -- We sincerely apologize that your stay was negatively impacted by smoke from the fire pits. We post that usage is only during certain hours and depending on weather (wind) conditions. Our closing and night audit staff monitor the grounds hourly and shut down usage at the first sign smoke is affecting the small percentage of rooms in proximity to the fire pits. In addition, if any guest alerts us of smoke issues our policy is to suspend usage immediately. The fire pits are completely enclosed with a metal cover to ensure there is no danger with embers escaping. We recently replaced our natural firewood bundles with presto logs – They produce no flying debris and less smoke. We really appreciate the feedback on the fire pits, and, if the steps described above do not mitigate the issue completely we will take additional measures.

Arrived Lincoln City hungry and tired. Traffic on US 101 was terrible. Since check in was at 4:00 PM we had three hours to fill. Traffic and Lines were everywhere and we grew more frusterated. Finally 4:00 arrived and we were checked in by an extremely pleasant gentleman named "George". George was professional, courteous, friendly and invited us to wine tasting, held each Wednesday. Our suite was very nice with a patio and lawn leading to the ocean below, Have to say the wine event with George was a "hit. Bed and room amenities were perfect and we lulled to sleep by the ocean and the wine. Excellent!

My sons loved the double queen, they each had thier own tv. I loved the deck right on the ocean. My wife liked the clean bathroom and shower. No adjoining rooms, but our doors faced each other at the end of a hallway. NO ELEVATOR. we had 3rd floor rooms, must be able to carry your luggage to your room. Very nice rooms, we were very comfortable.

It sounds like your family had a great time! I will cover with our staff the importance of offering assistance with luggage for our north side rooms, which do not have elevator access. Thank you for the feedback!

Recently spent one lovely night's stay at The Coho Lodge. Booked a two-room oceanfront suite for my husband, one-year old son and myself. Was a perfect way to start our Seattle-to-San Fran road trip. Plenty of space for my son to explore, while we all enjoyed the amazing ocean sounds and view. We had one of the suites with a 'shower-only' bathroom, but came prepared with a 'mini tub'. Pool looked inviting and we could have simply gone for a swim if we hadn't exhausted ourselves playing on the beach. Decor was impressive...thoughtful, designerly touches everywhere-nice. Staff was sweet and helpful. Wishing we stayed longer, cannot wait until our next visit.

We have stayed at the Coho Lodge before and again we were not disappointed the room we stayed in this year (the one with the seperate bedroom w/bunkbeds and a PS3) was exceptionaly clean and comfortable. There was a small kitchen area w/a french press to make coffee (am addicted now), the view from the walkout balcony is amazing and when you sit on the bed at high tide it almost seems like you could be right out in the ocean. The pool is nice, breakfast was also fine. The only drawback is there is no direct beach access or lighting that shows up on the surf, but that is not a big enough deal for us to not stay there again.

Sounds like the kids suite was a hit! Great idea on lighting up the surf - we have discussed the idea so having a guest recommend it is assuring. Thanks for the feedback!

We decided to go on a last minute getaway - literally with a few hours to find a place for a couple of nights. I hadn't been here before - have been to other LC venues. The new Sunset Suites are fantastic! Huge king bed, balcony and right on the ocean. Fireplace (although too hot to use it). Great bathroom - although the jacuzzi tub must be made for somone who is about 5 feet tall. No way could an average person enjoy the tub...too small/short. Might have been better to just make it a regular shower/tub.

Very modern decor - the fridge/micro/bar setup is fantastic! The french press is fabulous as well...nice touch! Comfy bed for sure - nice couch setup in the suite. These are newer rooms - newly renovated building and it shows.

Parking fills up in the evening - was in the overflow lot whenever we left since we lost our spot. Did not use pool or comp breakfast, so can't comment on that at all.

We did have an end unit (S. end). Nice w/ the extra windows, however the light comes right in the trendy wood slat blinds in the AM- I get the motif, but was hard to sleep in - and there were also lights from the place next door during the night. Might request a non- end room next time to ensure sleeping in.

Overall - great room - great amenities - enjoy the fact that they try to go green as much as possible. Would stay again for sure!

We really appreciate the detailed feedback on the sunset suite. We will take a look at the window coverings on the unit you stayed in -- sleeping in is a must on those last minute getaways!
