“Still affordable with a great view”
Reviewed 11 February 2013

We stayed here in room 27 of the Original building last year and requested that same room for our stay this year. The winter room rate of about $85 including tax is a good value considering the location and cleanliness. Room 27 has an exceptional view with nothing in between the windows and the ocean. It appeared that either they had updated some of the fixtures in the room since our stay a year ago - or at least they just do a very good job of keeping the rooms clean. Clean and comfortable king sized bed. The kitchenette in the room has all the necessities (oven, stove top, microwave, mini refrigerator with freezer, coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans, utensils, etc.) to cook small, easy meals in the room.

Been coming down here for many years and once again, filthy. Short hairs on edge of boxspring along with a multitude of other bits and pieces of things accumulated over time. The back of the bed spread had blood stains on it. Mattress pad balls up into a vinyl mess of Humps and bumps. The vinyl makes you hot and sweaty and beds are hard as rocks. The TV had such a film of dust we were able to write “clean me” hoping someone might take notice and actually clean. The bathroom although remodeled had hairs on the tub and floor. 1 small roll of toilet paper. A table that tipped while sitting we had to put papers to make it stable to eat at. And once again, a huge stain on the floor most likely crab drippings, since when we walked in we were bombarded with the stink of smelling old crab. Come one. I really think this place would be out of business if not for the ocean front rooms. Only other competition is across the street and is overpriced. Still very disappointing. Wonder if in the future, they’d let us in early to thoroughly clean and rid the place of stink.

Room Tip: Bring cleanign supplies and wear sandles on carpet.

Nice view of the beach/ocean from inside the room or cross over the narrow street and you're on the sand. The price was great and we got a discount coupon from their website. The price probably is higher in the summer like most lodgings at the Oregon coast but it's winter time and it was in the 50's with sun the 2 days we were there ! We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in the ocean front room 102 in the Budd bldg. Great clean room with fridge, dishwasher...

I came with my boyfriend who has lived in the desert his entire life, had only seen the ocean once when he was a little kid. We loved it! The room was clean and had everything we needed. We rented a unit with a kitchenette which worked out perfectly. We shopped at The Manzanita Grocery & Deli a few blocks up which had everything we needed and then some! That little shop is awesome! We took a long walk on the beach which was clean and gorgeous. We loved looking at Mt. Neahkanie while we had our morning coffee. Our little dog came along and she loved it as well...running on the beach and then napping by the fireplace. We planned on staying two nights but added another night because we were enjoying our time so much! PLEASE take the time to do the Three Capes Scenic route that veers off from 101 from Tillamook! Stop in Oceanside! There is a little doorway in the cliffside that leads to a tunnel to the other side of the beach where there are awesome views of sea stacks not visible from the beach. It was like being on another planet! So beautiful! Also be careful of speed limits going through the little towns like Nehalem, Wheeler and Garibaldi- we got a speeding ticket. :( Manzanita is close to all of these destinations and more! Will definitely be back to explore Oswald State Park and all the other places we didn't have time to visit! Thanks, Sunset Surf!

Room Tip: We had a first floor room which was great - little bit of noise from upstairs, especially when they...

Clean, spacious room. Comfortable bed. Extra pillows and blanket in room closet. Kitchen equipped with range, fridge, coffee maker, coffee, microwave and utensils. Clean bathroom with shower/tub combination. More hooks for robes, towels etc would be a nice addition. Across the street from beach. Nice stop for combined business/getaway stay.

Perfect for a quick family get away. Rooms were really clean with the essentials coffee maker frig and cook top. Walked into town to pick up a pizza for dinner and front office had a good selection of movies. Great location and experience.

Stayed here for a weekend in January to get away from it all for a bit. We had wonderful weather, but we were excited to see a great selection of board games in the main office in case of rain! The room was freezing when we first came in, but it warmed up pretty quickly and stayed nice and toasty for the rest of the weekend. There was a great view, as the motel is literally across the road from Manzanita beach. It's also a short drive to Nehalem State Park, Neakahnie mountain trail and Canon Beach. The room was clean and room service was on top of it. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, too. We had a great experience, and would definitely recommend this stop to others who are looking for a relatively inexpensive beach getaway in a nice place right by the ocean.
