“Great place to stay very near the beach”
Reviewed 26 June 2012

We travel to Manzanita often and have stayed at pretty much every single place, including the very high-end places.
Ocean Inn is definitely a place we will return to. It is newly remodeled with EVERYTHING brand new in our room (the ADA unit #10). This is not a cheapy remodel job, we're talking new carpets, new doors, the entire bathroom, walls, paint, fixtures... EVERYTHING!
The beach is literally less than a block away. Unit #10 has no ocean view.
The only drawback is if the travelers staying in the room above you are loud but that is typical with 2 story places.

Dear Jansonb1971,
On behalf of everyone that works at Ocean Inn we wish to thank you for the nice review you posted about us.
Yes, we have been working very hard to upgrade our rooms in a way that everyone can enjoy. Still more to do but it is taking shape nicely.
We are sorry if you had to endure disruptive customers above your room. We don't often get complaints about that but it does happen.
Again, we are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you make Ocean Inn your destination in the future.

Had another great weekend at Ocean Inn, this time with sister and brother-in-law from Seattle(their first time at OI), and the dogs. Manzanita is the dog's favorite place, ever, and Ocean Inn is dog-friendly, and luxurious for us humans, too. We ate all our meals 'in' this trip, which was fun and so convenient, with the full kitchens--no condiments except salt and pepper and a bottle of olive oil, so bring everything else you need to cook. Manzanita Market is just a couple minute's walk down the street, open until at least 9 at night, and between there and Mother Nature's, across the street from Manzanita Market, you can find just about anything you might like to eat, including a fine selection of cheeses and olives at the deli in Manzanita Market. Only suggestion to OI would be to provide a couple more dish cloths and a good sponge in the kitchen.

The rels realized they had locked themselves out of their apartment at 9:00 on a Saturday night. We called the number on the info sheet, and one of the staffers came by and opened up the room within 10 minutes. Thanks, everyone!

Ocean Inn rooms have all been remodeled. The light is nice in both #3 and #4(and #8). The kitchens are large--though the ceramic stove top in one of the units was a challenge to clean up after I inadvertently turned up a burner and scalded milk(challenging to use this kind of stove if you're not accustomed to them). There's enough room at the dining table for four to sit comfortably. Beds are good, bathrooms are spacious, with tub and shower(big tub in room#3) plenty of nice towels(and dog towels, too). The landscaping is very well-maintained and attractive, and the place is right on the ocean dune. What's not to like?

We're looking forward to getting back to the Ocean Inn come autumn.

Room Tip: #1 is really nice, right on the beach, but not dog-friendly, so if you don't have, or like dogs...

Really wonderful little motel. The rooms are very clean, decorated very nicely & the location is right on the beach. We stayed in one of the rooms directly on the beach & it had a wood-burning wood stove with wood provided, a separate kitchen, separate living room & separate bedroom. Perfect in all ways for a couple. The owners are very nice & friendly as well. What a wonderful time we had & felt so glad to have found this wonderful little place.

We loved the Ocean Inn -- it's steps from the beach, the room was big, beautiful and immaculate, and we had a view of the ocean! The location couldn't be better -- shops and restaurants are just down the street. The room had a kitchenette, and numerous amenities like tea and locally made chocolates. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a terrific time, and I know we'll be back.

Room Tip: Ask for one with an ocean view -- you'll be glad you did!

We headed to the Northern Oregon Coast from the Willamette Valley without knowing where we would stay. By mid afternoon it was time to find lodging. We were in Manzanita and spotted the Ocean Inn. We went to the office to inquire about the facility and were voluntarily shown two units. All the units are apartments not just a room with a bed bathroom. We chose unit #9 - a one bedroom, full kitchen, great balcony view apartment. These units might cost a little more but they are very clean and well appointed. (Hadn't stayed on the Oregon Coast for a long time so didn't know what hotels were charging.) Beach access is just steps away as are places to eat. Good food at the pub. Love the little town of Manzanita and hope we can visit again soon. The local grocery is quite expensive. So if your plan to eat in, bring your groceries with you. Some rooms are pet friendly others are not. All are non smoking.

Thank you for your review, and we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. I am sure things have changed slightly at the coast since the last time you were here. The one thing that hasn't changed is the beauty of the North Oregon Coast! Hope you will come visit us again soon.

My wife and I have stayed at the Ocean Inn many times...at least five separate occaisions. We were pleased every time. The rooms are clean and well put together. You are just a nine iron away from a wonderful Oregon beach. There are multiple places to eat by walking 30 seconds to 3 minutes up the street. Covered parking and laundry facilities make this a great choice. Not quite as good for families though. Rooms have fully functioning kitchens...big plus!

Front desk closes a bit early. Internet connection is a bit slow and sometimes doesn't work well at all.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good. I actually prefer the rooms not right on th beach. I bit quieter.

Dear valued customer, I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for your review on Trip Advisor. We take all input seriously as improvements are an ongoing process.

I apologize for the Internet access problem. We keep "upgrading" and are told that this is the right system but in the end it is not sufficient. It is our hope that it will be resolved in a timely fashion.

Lastly, I hope you found that we were available whenever and for whatever you needed. Yes our office hours are shorter in the winter and beginning in May the office is open until 6:00pm. You may dial the office phone number 24 hours a day and you will get one of us or get a call back shortly after. My front desk girls live very close to the hotel and are always willing to come back for anything that you need.

Thank you again and hope you will return again soon!

Very pleased with stay at Ocean Inn. This was our first visit to Manzanita and loved the small town atmosphere. The Ocean Inn looks to be freshly revamped - both inside and out. Our 1 bedroom room was very clean, well appointed with a balcony and decent ocean views. The weather was stormy meaning we stayed inside much of the time but that was okay. A small fireplace and comfortable features made for a relaxing time. When the weather broke we were able to enjoy walks around town and had miles of beach to ourselves - and our dog. Beach access is maybe 40 yards away from your front door. There is a quaint small grocery store a couple of blocks from the Inn with ample supplies should you choose that route. Our first night we ordered a large pizza from Marzano's Pizza. Good pie but spendy. But considering we ate leftovers for a couple of days it was well worth it. Sorry to say but other meals were either in room or in other locations (Cannon Beach, Netarts, etc.) and not in Manzanita. Definitely will return to Ocean Inn next we visit Manzanita - small ocean front village! Other eats - Mo's at Cannon Beach Tolovana Park. Both of us had clam chowder and thought okay at best. Service a bit slow. The Schooner at Netarts Bay. Stumbled across this place while out for a drive on a stormy day. What a surprise! Steak sandwich one of the best I have ever had. Wife's fish and chips awesome as well. All of the goodies coming out of the kitchen looked wonderful. Bill's Tavern and Brewhouse in Cannon Beach. Typical brew pub with pub food. Good selection of beer. Food decent. I had the Ruben (special of the day), which was good. Wife had a burger that too was good. Service very slow - under staffed? Bruce's Candy Kitchen - a must visit for those with a sweet tooth. Great selection of sweets - chocolate, taffy, etc. We stocked up on chocolate and caramel popcorn for a stormy night in the room. For those traveling back over the hill - east, Camp 18 is a must for breakfast. I recommend splitting meals as portions are served lumberjack style. Cinnamon Roles are plate (large plate) size!
