The pools were amazing and truly the best part. The upper pool was more the kid friendly pool and the lower pool seemed to have a vibe where kids were not welcome. The heat in the pool was amazing, but you could really only be in for 15 minutes or so. There were hot spots in the pool where it came directly from the source. The best times to go were when it first opened and at dinner time, where the crowd petered out. The amenities around the grounds were OK. The walk on the other side of the river was fine, it would be nice to have brought a picnic lunch and we actually saw a beaver. The cabin was $150 total a night and we thought it would have been better to get one of the tent sites at $25-30 a night. It was pretty expensive for what was offered. In the bathrooms they only had makeup towlettes and bath gel. There was a full kitchen and a nice deck with chairs, and fire pit, we wished we had used this amenity. There was a basketball hoop and one tire swing as well. They had TVs with DVD and VHS players, but the cost to rent these was $4 per video. This is way out in the middle of nowhere, so be sure to bring your own food. There is no restaurant on site and the closest is quite a drive. We ate breakfast leaving at the rustic skillet and it was awesome.

Room Tip: We think the camp sites would be best. The cabin was $150 and it was pretty spendy for what was offered.

I too was a bit concerned about staying at Belknap after reading some of the reviews posted. However, we had a lovely weekend stay in one of the newer cabins. The kitchen was fully equiped, there were towels and soap in the bath, linens and blankets on the bed as well as a Duroflame log in the fireplace. The cabin was clean, warm and comfortably furnished. Yes, if you stay in a cabin you need to bring your own towel down to the hot spring pool, but, there are towels provided in the cabin bath. And no, you do not get the complimentary continental breakfast, but you have a kitchen to make yourself whatever you want for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The upper pool, reserved for folks staying in RV spaces and cabins, is a bit smaller than the lodge pool but everybit as nice. The hidden gardens are an unexpected surprise nestled among the firs. We were greeted by friendly, helpful staff at registration and check out. Based on this experience we would stay here again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Cabins are a nice option if you are looking for a more private/quiet stay.

After reading many of the negative reviews, I was hesitant about our upcoming stay for two nights. Upon arrival, I was almost scared to check-in. Not only was the service at the counter friendly, but the process was smooth and the staff was helpful. The corner room (we stayed in #14), was spacious and had wonderful river/pool views. The beds were quite comfortable and at least our room had a good, functioning mini-fridge. Although there is limited space for towels, if you look in the shower, you will find a stretch clothes line. TV was limited to rental DVDs only (at least in our room). We could operate our own heating system and the windows opened up for fresh air in the night and the lovely sound of the river. I would probably stay on the third floor next time for added privacy. The continental breakfast was served only from 7:45 to 8:45 with limited choices (bagels, hard boiled eggs, muffins and fruit), but that was plenty for us. Very limited choices for lunches/dinners in the area, but we recommend Takoda's which is about a 10 mile drive west on 26. Really good pizza and a good sized menu. Aside from the wonderful soak in the pool, another outing is Sahalie Falls which is about 10 miles east on 26. Great hike along the McKenzie River, and so many other wonderful hikes in the area. Make sure to walk across the bridge at the lodge and take a right to explore the gardens and many ponds. We loved our stay here. Peaceful, relaxing and the best sleep I've had in a long time.

Room Tip: Definitely stay on the river-side. Corner unit is best and top floor for added privacy.

We visited today after a visit to the nearby falls. Got a hour pass with the kids (8 & 10). $7 for an hour was just perfect for the kids. Clean dressing room & pool area. Water got up to 104 in the pool. Kids couldn't make it the whole hour as water was just to hot after awhile. Will defiantly be going back with our trailer. Lady at front desk was as nice as she could be.

I have been going to this place for years and have always loved it because the pool is so nice but no more.
After our visit this time they decided to charge us a $75 cleaning fee for smoking in the room. The room had it's own outdoor deck where I smoked but I did not smoke in the room. The lady at the desk said there was evidence I smoked in the room and they were charging us regardless. Since I roll my own I'm guessing the so called evidence was some loose tobacco on the table. Next year we go to Brietenbush just down the road where you can soak all night if you want.
