“The Mineral pools are fabulous, just not the staff”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

The pools are fantastic, they make you feel so good after soaking in the ,but the older women who works the front desk is not friendly at all. She was actually rude. But I would suck it and try the pools at least once. FYI its seven dollars an hour or 12 dollars for the day but that will only give you access to the pool by the lodge which out of the three is the worst so you have to stay there to get the good pools but you can camp fairly cheap there.

Room Tip: save your money and camp here

Contrary to other reviews, we found the lodge staff to be friendly, efficient and helpful. We stayed in the Camp Yale houses (#12) and although these are not on the river, they are quite modern and comfortable. The lodge and hot springs are about 2 miles down the (busy) road. Our house slept 6, however, is most comfortable for 4 unless the extra loft area is used by children. There are two bathrooms, one upstairs and one down. The house is air conditioned. The full kitchen was very well outfitted with pots and pans, serving dishes, pitchers, etc. Paper towels and dish soap were provided (no dishwasher) but you need to bring your own salt and pepper and food, including coffee. The nearest store is at least 10 miles away. The lodge itself is rustic and sits right on the river. There are many hiking trails nearby, and the Secret Garden was a delight. We had a group of 16 people staying here, some in houses, some camping, and this is a good facility for a group.

Room Tip: All of the Yale houses are new and comfortable, and have porches. The web site shows the interiors a...

We went to Belknap for a quick one night tent camping. We have never been there before but had heard it was beautiful. Upon check in the older woman working the front desk literally did acknowledge me for at least 7 minutes and only did so when a staff person told her to. When we were setting up we realized that we had forgotten our air mattress blower so my husband went to the front desk to ask if they may have something for us to use buy or rent to help us out. She basically told him to use a hair dryer and then quickly moved on to the next person. So I went down to ask where the closest town was to purchase this item. She gave me the same solution when I told her I didn't bring a hair dryer camping then she offered me to use one of theirs. I watched her treat people with she same disingenuous way over and over. She clearly hates working there and should be let go. Having worked in hospitality for several years this is inexcusable. We paid 58.00 to tent camp the pools and grounds are very much worth it. I will be finding out who the owners are as I have read the same complaints on here with no responses. They either do not care or don't know. Either way the only reason you should go here is if you avoid this woman.

My husband and I have been here 4 times over the last 5 years. It has it's pros and cons. The pros are; the pools are at a good temperature and clean, the people that work there are usually pretty nice, prices aren't bad, they are very accommodating with rooms and reservations, the gardens are well kept and it is very beautiful. Cons are; the lodge rooms are pretty outdated, beds and pillows are uncomfortable, and on our most recent visit there were giant ants found in our room. We have made a lot of good memories here so we will be going back in a couple years but will probably try camping next time and just get a day use pass for the pools.

This is a lovely hotel in the woods by the McKenzie river which rushes right through the property. Our living room had beautiful views of it. The bedroom faced to the back and was very quiet and you could lie on the bed and look at the trees. The bed was very comfortable. We also had a kitchen which was very well equipped and it was marvelous to be able to cook. The hot pool was very enjoyable and also the lounge chairs over the steam. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the Secret garden is the most interesting place with fountains and it was like being in Italy. There are lots of scenic places to visit and it is only about twenty minutes to Clear Lake where you can rent a rowing boat. This seems to be a family operated place and there are very nice and helpful people at the front desk. It was our third visit there and hope to stay again soon. There are always different flowering plants in the warm months. There were plenty of birds singing early in the morning and pale blue butterflies hovering about. It is a great escape, highly recommended.

Room Tip: All the rooms seem to be very good value. We have enjoyed 3, 4 and 15 so far.

I don't understand the bad reviews. The pools are delightful. Hot and clean. The dressing rooms are clean and well maintained. We were in a small RV and we brought our own towels and soap. This was our third time at Belknap and we have loved it every time. We met lots of people who come here very regularly. Maybe the people who love it are not writing reviews as they don't want it to get over crowded.

The gardens associated with Belknap are nothing short of spectacular. The hiking is also wonderful. You can walk onto the Mckenzie River trail and hike for miles in the most gorgeous scenery ever. What is not to like.

We have only stayed in the RV area so we don't know what the rooms and cabins are like.

The pools were amazing and truly the best part. The upper pool was more the kid friendly pool and the lower pool seemed to have a vibe where kids were not welcome. The heat in the pool was amazing, but you could really only be in for 15 minutes or so. There were hot spots in the pool where it came directly from the source. The best times to go were when it first opened and at dinner time, where the crowd petered out. The amenities around the grounds were OK. The walk on the other side of the river was fine, it would be nice to have brought a picnic lunch and we actually saw a beaver. The cabin was $150 total a night and we thought it would have been better to get one of the tent sites at $25-30 a night. It was pretty expensive for what was offered. In the bathrooms they only had makeup towlettes and bath gel. There was a full kitchen and a nice deck with chairs, and fire pit, we wished we had used this amenity. There was a basketball hoop and one tire swing as well. They had TVs with DVD and VHS players, but the cost to rent these was $4 per video. This is way out in the middle of nowhere, so be sure to bring your own food. There is no restaurant on site and the closest is quite a drive. We ate breakfast leaving at the rustic skillet and it was awesome.

Room Tip: We think the camp sites would be best. The cabin was $150 and it was pretty spendy for what was offe...
