“Wonderful Place for Nordic Ski Group”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2010

The Oregon Nordic Club (cross-country ski club) has stayed at Belknap for many years and gone on day ski trips from the location. Although the snow was not up to par this year, and we had to drive to Santiam Pass for snow, the service at Belknap Hot Springs made up for it. We were all charmed by the receptionist, Sandy H., who was efficient and helpful. The cabin was used was perfect for our group. We loved the hot springs pool.

Had a wonderful time over the New Year's Day 2009. Belknap provided a nice buffet with deserts and a great fireworks display. We all soaked in the hot springs pool while watching a truly wonderful and professional fireworks. What more could one ask for?

The hot springs pools are very nice, warm, and provide a great soaking experience. The staff was helpful and friendly as opposed to some comments I have read on this and other reviews. Everything we asked for they did their best to provide. Sometimes you get the service that you create by how the request is presented. We have been to Belknap many times and every time we have been treated nicely.

The rooms are comfortable, clean, warm, and from our good deal of travel experience priced right. Understand you are not paying a couple hundred for a room therefore,I would not expect an upscale resort with turn down service. I would set my expectations accordingly.

The bottom line, Belknap Hot Springs is a good value providing a very relaxing hot springs getaway. If you do not believe me just try and get a reservation, better plan ahead, they have customers beating down the door to get in. They must be doing something right.

This place is great for hanging out and chilling out, a fabulously beautiful spot away from it all. It has hours of trails, little and long walks that you do not need to drive to. There are absolutely NO facials, nail services logo-embroidered robes, Ralph Lauren kitsch, or Euro-spa features in evidence. It is casual bordering on funky, and shaped like an historic in that has been there for decades, gradually added on to. A great place for families, groups of friends, or a day hang out. We loved it. Folks at places like this are not required to help little old tech phobic ladies get their email to work. But they did.

I am not a meticulous housekeeper, so when I say I opened the cabin door and was disgusted, that takes a lot. It smelled of Lysol, but that was it. The curtains were covered in visible dirt and cobwebs, the blinds were speckled with grime, the walls were filthy, the lamp shade had bugs and webs all over it; the dishes were gritty. I spent about 2 hours cleaning what I could, not having brought cleaning supplies on my weekend getaway! I was "allowed" by the front desk to take down the curtains. (But no one offered to wash them.) The cabins are mixed in with the RVs and tent camping, so there is no privacy or quiet. Some spaces are no more than 8 to 10 feet apart. Saturday night was especially noisy with the party crew next to me, and there seemed to be no "quiet hours" in effect at Belknap. NOW, the good: it's a beautiful place and the trails are lovely. The gardens are in need of tending, but pretty magical. The hot spring pools are fabulous and soothing (except when folks are drinking and eating while in the pool . . . all that glassware: scary!) . . . I don't know -- I can't imagine anyone I know wanting to stay in a dirty, noisy, place like that cabin.

I attended an annual conference for college and university faculty at Belknap resort, and it was absolutely fantastic! I honestly don't know what the folks reporting negatively are coming from; or perhaps the lodge as recently renovated.

Our group enjoyed: the beauty lodge itself full of pictures from it's 150 year history, the sounds of the river, the beauty of the setting (a little peninsula jutting out into the McKenzie river), the lovely flowers in the gardens, the friendly staff, comfy leather couches in multiple locations and, of course, the hot springs pools!

Rustic, yes.. but dirty? Absolutely not! The 'cabins' are actually small homes with kitchens, clean bathrooms and beautiful views. The trails are both flat and landscaped, or more strenuous and rugged (your choice). At the end of a day of hard conference work, we enjoyed floating in the hot springs pool each evening while looking at an incredibly starry sky (one attendee from Connecticut commented "There are stars between stars!")

So, go visit this place! Float in that hotspring pool under the stars, sit in the comfy leather couches near a fire place, walk the gardens and hike the mountainside, fall to sleep each night to the sound of the McKenzie river streaming by. You won't regret it, and you'll probably return!

Great service, comfortable room, idyllic location, and a setting that relaxes and rejuvenates.

The Belknap Springs hosted a multi-day meeting for 20+ people from all over the country. The management was flexible, helpful, and did everything they could to accommodate our needs. We had a cozy space for our meeting and meals during the day, and we had beautiful forests and trails to explore during the evening. At the end of each day, the Belknap's hot springs helped us relax and rest well.

The variety of rooming options (hotel-like rooms, cabins, camper & tent spaces) were impressive. And the management's 'no-froofy-frills' approach housekeeping lets you know they have a Green ethos.

I highly recommend the Belknap Springs for others looking for a place to have a small retreat-like meeting, and for family vacationers. I look forward to returning.

The staff was incredibly responsive and willing to go the extra mile. I stayed in one of the cabins and it was so quiet and peaceful. The main lodge was great for our group meeting. The grounds have 2 hotspring fed pools, great walking paths and incredible scenery.
