“a great place”
Reviewed 19 July 2010

we were on a three night raft trip down the rouge, camping for two nights and the last night at the Paradise Lodge....it is a really special place to spend the night. the main lodge and dinning area was very rustic with lots of old pictures and stuff. seemed all very authentic. the rooms were pretty basic, but after two days of river camping the hot water and clean sheets were worth the price. the food was great and plentiful...Just don't leave anything out at night as the bears like to come in and do some cooler games....I would highly recommend this place to anyone doing the rouge river....

lodge is only accessible by boat and hiking; no road connections. we got to the historic lodge by hiking from foster bar. there are no signs from the trail to identify the place nor any on the buildings; we had to ask staff where we were. when we got to the room, it was disappointing that there were lots of spider webs in the corners and windows. the water heater was uncovered and part of the bathroom. nevertheless, the lodge's food was wonderful and the lobby well appointed and comfortable. location along the river is very scenic and tranquil. large well kept meadow was alive with deer. staff was very helpful and accommodating. given the conditions and the price, i rate it only fair for the room, redeemed by the terrific lobby, food service, and outdoor deck.
