“Homey, comfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

Black Bear has good wait staff, courteous, helpful, observant, even when serving single diners when they don't expect much of a tip. Food is casual, homey comfort food, heavy on fried, salty stuff, dished up in typical (obscenely) huge American portions. I will compliment their fresh salads with greens and veggies other than plain old iceberg lettuce. Menu features big breakfast platters, burgers and chili, lots of beef, not much fish. Locals eat here, which is a good sign for lots of caloric value for the money.

Good value food and lots of it. Super attentive service as well. Menu was varied, even the children's menu and even though it was Saturday evening we only waited 10 minutes for a table. Lots of locals too which is a very good sign. Will visit again. Try the Chicken pot pie. Dead good.

“Huge breakfasts and hot coffee”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

The Black Bear Diner is a smaller chain that consistently provides good coffee and huge breakfasts (those biscuits must weigh a pound each) to customers. It's a busy place almost any day of the week. The homemade hash is yummy. But everything is super sized like for multiple meals or multiple eaters per dish.

“Hellish”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014 via mobile

DO NOT eat here. And I like Black Bear Diners. Highlights included warm beer, green salad served on hot plate, burger patty piled in pieces on bun. These challenges were beyond the courteous but clueless staff to overcome. Keep driving.
