Stopped in on our way to Sunriver for breakfast, had driven by the Black bear restaurants many times. We had a great meal, fast and friendly service.

I've eaten here twice, and both times found the service simply outstanding. The food was very good and at a reasonable price. After a tough day on the road, finding a nice clean restaurant where you can get a decent meal quickly, is really appreciated.

location was next to hotel, since we had a dog we did take out food; mediocre steak served with plastic fork; salad good, great banana cream pie; place was dreary

Black Bear has good wait staff, courteous, helpful, observant, even when serving single diners when they don't expect much of a tip. Food is casual, homey comfort food, heavy on fried, salty stuff, dished up in typical (obscenely) huge American portions. I will compliment their fresh salads with greens and veggies other than plain old iceberg lettuce. Menu features big breakfast platters, burgers and chili, lots of beef, not much fish. Locals eat here, which is a good sign for lots of caloric value for the money.

Good value food and lots of it. Super attentive service as well. Menu was varied, even the children's menu and even though it was Saturday evening we only waited 10 minutes for a table. Lots of locals too which is a very good sign. Will visit again. Try the Chicken pot pie. Dead good.
