We stayed here on a road trip to the Painted Hills. We arrived after 9:00 and let ourselves in (we'd arranged it with the owner). It was pretty much as the other reviews suggested: more charming than frumpy, really a mixture of both. It a larger town I'd run screaming from it, in a teeny-tiny little central Oregon town it was perfect. It had had a somewhat recent bathroom remodel which was a nice touch, and everything was very clean. It had a front room with a twin bed, microwave, simple coffee maker (+ tea), a loveseat, a small table, and a small TV w/ DirecTV and a separate bedroom with the queen. The only window screen was in the bathroom, but we were fine with the bedroom ceiling fan on an 85-degree night. High-speed wireless too.
Somehow our quirky/average room really added to the whole experience. There's a very nice strip of lawn in front of the rooms and it's set back and above the road. We arrived at dusk, and the combination of the room, laying on the lawn looking at the stars, and nothing louder than the cicadas was perfect and I wouldn't mind staying there again although I might bring my own comforter, their blankets were fine just old.
There's one small grocery in town, didn't go inside - recommend you bring your own food if you want something more than the small cafes (one is cash-only).
