Went to visit the Molalla Train Park for the very first time today. We had an excellent time. Its hard to believe this place charges NO ADMISSION and runs on donations.
The train park was founded in 1954 by Harry Harvey, who had a dream to provide a place where families could go to ride and learn about trains. When he died he left the park, to the Pacific Northwest Live Steamers.
Today the park features 3,800 feet of 7½-inch track that loops around a picnic area. There is also a snack booth.
Today wasn't super busy so we were able to literally get off one train and go through the line and IMMEDIATELY get right back on another train. Very cool!
This is a great place to pack a cooler or take a picnic lunch. There are a number of picnic tables in the shade as well as a number of trees to throw a blanket down on the ground. Drinking water fountains are also available.
