We stopped for dinner on our way to Hood River, and wished we had kept on driving. We told our server we were in a hurry and only had 45 minutes but weren't worried about the short time because the restaurant was virtually empty. Our party all chose food that could be quickly prepared and eaten--a salad, chili, and two BLTs. After ordering we were told there was only enough bacon for one BLT, so we had the second made without bacon. Then we sat, and sat, and sat. It took 25 minutes for the first two meals to be delivered and another 4-5 minutes for the sandwiches to come up. We had the sandwiches delivered in boxes because we knew we didn't have time to eat them onsite. We asked for our check immediately, so the server knew we were really rushing (which we had already told her, of course.) I was surprised that the server never apologized for the delay or seemed concerned at all.
Besides the slow service, the food was lackluster. There are so many better choices of restaurants in The Dalles and Hood River--this will be our last visit to Thirsty Woman.

Having seen The Thirsty Woman before, I opted to duck in for a light meal and skip the planned stop in Hood River. Since it was Tuesday, only the smaller facility (they call it the Little Woman) was open. The beer selection is excellent and the food tasty. My only complaints were that due to the small size of the building, it was too warm and the local drunks seemed especially loud. The outdoor seating area was pretty dusty. The place is very laid back -- almost a 70's feel. I'd like to try it again -- on a day that the Big Woman is open.
