Tastefully decorated and beautifully designed, yet inviting and cosy. The most comfortable bed we have ever slept in and the best view from any bath tub I've ever been in. Tranquil setting; relaxed, private. Top it all off with a wonderful breakfast and friendly hosts - what's not to like?

Awtery house is with out doubt one of the hidden treasures of the Oregon coast. We are glad we stayed here and found it flawless in every way, this treasure trove of beautiful scenery and comfort with unique surroundings is nestled amongst the charm of a small town. We enjoyed discovering the spectacular views - our wonderful ocean facing deep soaking tub made for a romantic and relaxed evening. Great sleep in the massive comfortable bed.

We could not recommend more highly if you are looking for a relaxed Oregon coast escape. Our hosts Dennis and Peggy welcomed us with genuine warmth and hospitality in a relaxed atmosphere. They prepared a delicious breakfast the next morning with amazing local flavours we will never forget! We are so thankful they were willing to make it an earlier breakfast to accommodate our travel plans. We wish we could have stayed longer, and are already planning our return trip to Awtrey house. We are planning a hike of some of the many nearby trails as well. Recommend 2+ nights.

It's hard to add much beyond what has already been written in other reviews. Dennis and Peggy have innkeeping down to an art. A soothing, beautiful, well-designed house. Top flight furnishings, food, and special touches. Where else will a former NBA player clean your room while you're on the beach? And make you a gourmet breakfast, complete with homemade bread? And send you on your way with a little bag of freshly baked cookies? This is THE place to stay on the Oregon coast. We also recommend Finnesterre, a lovely home furnishings store in Manzanita. Keep in mind that Manzanita is short on restaurant options, but you're a hop, skip, and a jump to Cannon Beach, where there are plenty of places to eat.

This stay marked our second visit to the Awtrey House (to celebrate a birthday) and it was just as beautiful as we remembered.

We took advantage of every facet of our room which included: a large deep soaker tub (with stunning view of the ocean), a luxurious king-sized bed (with the most comfortable mattress ever made), private deck complete with lounging chairs and plush blankets so we could sit out and gaze at the stars, not to mention the amazing coffee maker and awesome shower with rainforest shower head.

The food Dennis served was outstanding, everything prepared for breakfast each day was made using locally grown produce, tasted delicious and no one went away hungry.

During the four days we stayed at the B&B, the mornings were misty, but turned sunny in the mid-afternoon - the beaches were virtually deserted and we felt like we had the whole of Manzanita to ourselves.

This trip we felt like we had budgeted the right amount of time because there is a lot in the area to see and do. We intentionally reserved our last day for beach walking and enjoying our private deck -- the beach directly below the Awtrey House is so expansive, we walked for 2-hours in one direction without seeing another person, the rolling waves and the white sand beach makes for both a tranquil and relaxing walk.

At this time of year, not all the stores are open on Monday/Tuesday, that was the only odd thing we encountered as it is off peak season. There were limited dining options in Manzanita; however, adjacent towns, only a short car ride away offered some more menu selections/variety.

We ended our visit at the Awtrey House feeling amazingly relaxed and refreshed, the setting is so beautiful, the room has every comfort that a person could hope for and the hosts are warm and welcoming and the food is fantastic (as noted by the other glowing reviews on this site).

Room Tip: Both rooms are outstanding - Room #2 is closer to the main house - Room #1 is right beside the guest...

This is, hands down, the most amazing place I have ever stayed-and I have stayed at some extraordinary places! The beauty of the surroundings is surreal-ocean, pine trees, sky that goes on for days. The rooms were spectacular-tubs that are like swimming pools with a view out the window, a bed so comfortable you never want to leave-especially with the view, a private patio-and did I mention the view?
Add to that the beyond compare hosts Dennis and Peggy. He is an ex-basketball player who has a great stories and cooks the best breakfasts you have ever had. She is an elegant and gracious hostess-together they are the perfect couple.
We didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back. ANd I'm not kidding about the wait list.. They only have two rooms so book now!

My husband and I spent three nights at this ultra-modern, ultra-luxurious, and ultra-romantic B&B on the north end of Manzanita as part of our 5th year anniversary celebration. As typical for the Oregon coast, we had sunny, stormy, and misty weather within that timespan, and we loved Awtrey House during all kinds of meteorological moods. When it was sunny, we enjoyed sitting out on our private terrace gazing at the wide expanse of Manzanita beach. On colder wetter evenings, we enjoyed hearing the rain beat down on the roof while we had the woodstove burning. And when it was clear, we loved watching the moon rise and set over the ocean while stargazing. The two person deep soaking tub was a nice touch too to be able to sit in the tub and look out on the ocean. Other amenities were equally high-end. Dennis and Peggy are splendid hosts - we so enjoyed the gourmet breakfasts made with local ingredients and being regaled by Dennis with his NBA stories. We couldn't see the sunset directly from the room but Dennis and Peggy are very gracious and welcoming with having guests sit on the main house terrace to watch it. Manzanita is a sleepier town than Cannon Beach but is very charming with lots of boutique stores, a very well-stocked grocery store, restaurants, and a huge beach that is great for strolling, walking, or running. We were just 10-15 mins drive from Cannon Beach, and also close to Tillmook and other attractions to the south. Stay at this gorgeous property for a romantic getaway - you won't regret it!

The Awtrey House is by far the most impressive B&B we have stayed at. Modern, stylish, yet comfortable, luxury everywhere. From both rooms you have beautiful views over the ocean. Dennis is a wonderful host (unfortunately, Peggy was gone during the time we stayed there) spoiling his guests not only with amazing breakfasts but sharing his time with you whenever you should wish so. We had an unforgettable time and will certainly be back when we travel Oregon again.

Room Tip: Apart from the paintings on the wall both rooms are identically equipped and have the exact same vie...
