“Great view, great breakfast”
Reviewed 20 August 2014 via mobile

We stayed at this lovely little bed and breakfast on our two week holiday from NYC. I would generally say im very picky about hotels/b&b's and food, and this lived up to expectations on both counts. It has a wonderful view overlooking the valley and thry served a very nice 2 course breakfast.

The only issue we had was erratic hot water the first morning and generally low water pressure, but the room more than made up for it. Both of the hosts were very pleasant and helpful.

When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted at the door and welcomed into the house. A short tour and up to our room. We stayed in the Rose Garden room. We had recently stayed at a few fine hotels on our trip with King Sized beds and lots of extra space, with that in mind the room seemed a little small. However we quickly found that it had enough space for all our things, the queen was very comfortable and there was lots of space in the bathroom. The best part of the room for us was the balcony and the view! We visited during the busy season and would have never known the house was full. If we had wanted to spread out we could have gone down to the shared living area or TV room at any time. The house is secured and comfortable and I found that it better fit our needs than the 5 star hotel in Seattle. Cookies and tea available in the evenings, access to cork screws, wine glasses, cutting boards, dishes, etc. for when you bring your bottle of wine back to the B and B and take in the view. The breakfast was amazing and the hosts were great. I have read other reviews about the host Kristin, and feel that they are uncalled for personal attacks. She works hard to make sure your stay is perfect, has a way she sets the table and lets you know when it is prepared. I will plan to return with other family members and stay longer than the 2 nights since it was such a joy.

Green Features: They recycle everything and use produce from their garden for meals.

We stayed in the Oregon trail room for a few nights. Clean and quiet. This was the only room available and there is no deck, but this was explained well by Kristin when I booked it. The temperature of the room was easy to regulate. The hosts answered any questions we had. Yes, one host is more extroverted than the other, and both are friendly in their own way. Breakfast was exceptional. WiFi was fast.

Tough to rate this fairly. The property is very nice with sweeping views over the valley. Owner Curt and employee Sabre were great- 5 stars. Problem was with owner chef Kristen. I upset her when I couldn't eat her salmon soufflé day 1. Never thought to say please - no fish for breakfast. I apologized repeatedly for inconveniencing her and said cold cereal would be fine. She opted to make scrambled eggs and then proceeded to drop the plate in front of me. Some time after breakfast, my sweetheart asked what did she plan for tomorrow and she curtly responded " the menu isn't set yet". He felt dismissed. From that point forward she was cold (to me) until the night before we were checking out. 4 stars for her cooking, 0 for her customer service skills. Grateful Curt was there for the weekend, he's definitely an asset.
Too many options to choose from, never again for this property.

The B&B was constructed as a Bed and Breakfast, so the layout is terrific with beautiful views from each room, great privacy and spacious baths in every suite. Breakfast is taken to the level of "cuisine" and every possible accommodation is thought-out - guidebooks, umbrellas, wine glasses, binoculars, robes. And as a home base for exploring the Willamette Valley wineries, it's the perfect place. Enjoyed our stay!

Room Tip: The rose garden room has a very low bed, slant ceiling and low closet, so if you're a tall or la...

this inn is a beautiful inn that sits high up on the hill with a spectacular view. we were in the rose room which allowed us this view all the time, however outside the family room there is an area to enjoy the view as well, along with having our delicious breakfast out there as well. place is immaculate, with lovely amenities (such as robes) and extremely comfortable bed. our only negative is that we had to leave.

Room Tip: if you can get a view room, go for it. breathtaking!

Yes, the view from our room was amazing. Yes, the room was clean and the bathroom was spacious and updated.

No, the owner/chef did not seem to want us there. Odd, I know, but she definitely treated us like unwanted house guests. And considering we were PAYING to be there, it left a very bad taste in our mouth.

We went downstairs for our first breakfast a little early so we got a coffee and went out on the balcony to enjoy the view. the chef/owner, Kristen, came out with plates and napkins and began setting the table around us. She muttered under her breath that she needed to get the table set as she was dropping things in front of us and moving our coffee cups around. She literally treated us like we were 1) in the way and 2) it was our fault she hadn't set the table yet. There was another couple that came out and they joined us, so we shifted around the seating to our preference. Kristen came back out and commented on why she didn't set the table that way.

She also asked what we had planned that day, and the other couple mentioned a bike ride and she not so much offered suggestions as critiqued what they had planned. When she stepped back inside, the husband took his phone out to look up bike paths/routes. She came back with the first course and said "OK, time to put the phone away, I'm serving breakfast." It was rude and awkward. He replied that he was looking up the bike ride she had just asked about. The first course was baked nectarine with a cream filling. It was good but somewhat ruined by her bad attitude.

She brought out the second course and asked us what we had planned for the day. My husband found a wine guide to take us around for the day, which is not a cheap endeavor. We knew his name but weren't completely sure of the company he worked for. We said the company name we thought it was, and Kristen replied "You know that's two different companies right?" Actually no, we didn't as we are TOURISTS. Again, rude and inappropriate. The second course was lemon ricotta pancakes. These were completely mushy with no pancake substance at all. Coupled with her batitude (bad attitude), I would rather have had a bowl of cereal.

After we finished eating, I went inside to grab a Kleenex. She was in the living room so I asked if there were any tissues, to which she replied without looking up "Tissues are not on this floor. There is a box provided in the guest rooms." Again, rude and inappropriate.

The next day we needed to get going to our next destination, and considering how breakfast had gone the day before (the batitude and mushy "pancakes") we decided we could grab breakfast somewhere else. My husband relayed this to Kristen when he went to get coffee, and she said "That would have been nice to know yesterday." A sentiment I don't disagree with, but after how inhospitable she was the day before, I genuinely could have cared less. We didn't want another morning ruined by her.

I felt completely unwelcome here, the chef/owner seems to only be doing this for money. It is out of the way, you can't walk anywhere in town, you must drive. Don't waste your time here. I simply don't believe she has any interest in making anyone feel welcome, most certainly not her PAYING GUESTS. There are so many other options that at the end of the day there is nothing special about this B&B, except how exceptionally rude the owner is.
