After reading reviews, I was a little nervous staying. The Groupon included an ocean view room, champagne in the fridge upon arrival, and $25 to spend at the Rookies Bar or Starfish Grill. The weather was awesome, not a cloud in the sky, the food was delicous, the bed was comforable, and the room was NICE! I am so impressed by the friendly staff and the whole day and night was a wonderful experience! I will definitely go back again... Lisa :)

Just stayed Fri & Sat nite in qn / qn room #400 and it was great! The view was amazing and the room was much nicer than expected. The ocean view was the entire lenght of the room which was a sliding glass door with a skinny little balcony. The balcony was only wide enough to stand on - chairs wont fit but it was fine to be able to step out for a minute cause the truth is even tho sunny and beautiful it was a little too windy to spend longer than a few minutes outside because on the 4th floor you are above the trees and I dont think the wind on the Oregon coast is ever actually warm. Sitting in the chairs at the table or looking outside from the beds was great! The bed may have been the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept on and the 4 pillows on each bed were so comfortable. At some point during the night the thought ran thru my mind " this must be what it feels like inside the womb". Yes it was that comfortable. My friend in the next bed over also thought it was one of the best ever. We joked about if anyone would notice us each dragging our bed and pillows across the parking lot to our car! The room was a little on the small side but was modern and clean. Nice big closet, mini fridge, micro and coffee maker. There are two restuarants in the hotel and we ate at both. A little on the spendy side and the food wasnt great but also wasnt terrible. It was very nice to be able to dine onsite cause from what I saw there wasnt anything else right in the immediate area and would require a car ride. The one thing I will mention like another poster did is that the rooms on the back non ocean view are very exposed to prying eyes and probably get very hot on nice days because in our room at least there was no A/C and we needed the door and the drapes open for the breeze from the ocean that the back rooms wouldnt get. No matter how great the bed, I dont think I would have been happy with a non view room for the price paid per night. As long as I could get an oceanview room I would defintely stay here again.

Room Tip: Only book oceanview and ask for highest floor possible

We appreciate your review of our property and I am very glad to hear that you enjoyed our new beds. The view is so pretty and we just had some trees cut so that most rooms have the same view. Unfortunatley we do not have air conditioning but on the Oregon Coast there is usually on a few days a year that you may need it! Hope to see you again soon! Thank you!

I am surprised to read the poor reviews here. We just stayed here for 5 days the first week of August 2011 and the hotel was fabulous! This is not the hotel we booked but when we arrived at the original hotel we immediately ran screaming out of there and immediately started searching for a better place. We found this hotel and the staff sympathized with our situation and gave us a discounted rate for a GREAT room. I don't think the rooms were outdated at all although we did not need the heater so we didn't see if it worked or not. Staff was very helpful and friendly, rooms were great, the close proximity to the beach was AWESOME and we went down there every day. It was not within walking distance to the attractions such as the Aquarium but it was also in a quiet peaceful location. Also, the gift shop on site sold tickets to almost all of the places we wanted to go so we didn't have to wait in long lines. This hotel was perfect for what we needed and I am definitley staying there again the next time we go back to Newport!

We had a Groupon and booked a night here on our way up the coast. The view was very nice, the beach close by and the breakfast really good. We had our teenage boys with us and they enjoyed the pool. Plenty of space in room and very clean. We'd stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean view

We got an ocean view room at this hotel and were quite surprised. It was tastefully decorated in neutral colors, a king bed, table and chairs and a small balcony with a lovely view, was quiet (and there were children visible everywhere) and less than a block from Agate Beach. The restaurant food selections were impeccable and the service was equally impressive (for both dinner and breakfast). It is not within walking distance of Nye Beach or any cute shops - just a Wal-Mart. But we were glad to drive and explore the Nye Beach area and found charming breakfast and lunch places along the way. It was a short, but restful two-day stay and I highly recommend this place if a hotel stay is what you are looking for - just don't miss the restaurant!!

Stayed here with family of 5, two rooms connecting and each had own balcony, great view of ocean, sunset, and Yaquina Lighthouse. Short walk to beach, but not bad..we have a 3 and 5 year old and they did great. Great halibut fish and chips at the hotel restaurant, tasted even better sitting outside on the large deck overlooking the ocean. :) Easy access to downtown and beach, friendly staff, clean rooms, indoor pool, all-around great experience.

The good: If you get a beach front room, you have a nice view of Agate beach and ocean breezes. The nice little bar (no big screen tv, but several small televisions) is very convenient. A large sandy beach is across the street.
The bad: No air conditioner. If you get a room on the non ocean side, you have no view, the people crossing the sky bridge from the parking lot might have a view into your room, and the odds of a good breeze decrease. The room was very stuffy.
The soap holders had a little soap from previous use in them. Other than that, the room seemed very clean.
I would stay again if I had beach front and knew it wasn't going to be warm.
