We loved staying in the Whaler's newly refurbished Deluxe Kings rooms. We liked the bed so much, we wished we could take it home with us. we have stayed there before and are always delighted with their hospitality and kindness.

My 3 kids and I went to Newport over the Memorial Day weekend. Our room was located on the third floor which had a wonderful ocean view. Although the rooms and a few other things (vending machines, washer/dryer, etc.) were a bit dated everything was very clean, comfortable and in working order. The continental breakfast was adequate, but could include just a bit more selection. The kids very much enjoyed the unlimited popcorn and hot chocolate. Since we spent most of our time sightseeing, the room was everything we needed over the 3 day holiday weekend. We all enjoyed the pool and spa and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. For the value minded who don't want to give up a great ocean view with easy beach access, this is a fantastic place to stay. We couldn't have been more pleased with The Whaler.

Want to step out your motel doorway and be on the beach? Well the Whaler Motel is a top spot in my book. Beautiful 180 degree views of the Pacific Ocean, the Lighthouse at Yaquina Head and sandy strand [beach]. If you love the ocean like I do then this place is a must stay. Great facilities, many different types of rooms and even homes to rent. All beachside, within easy walking distance of restaurants and great little shops. Motel is very kid friendly, free popcorn, breakfasts and the like. Pool and jacuzzi, but we spend our time on the beach....

Weathered a storm for one night with three children. The hotel and the family emerged intact. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Average breakfast (Costco muffins and bagels) Nice size indoor pool and good location. Across the road from the beach, but could not enjoy do to the storm and high tide. Not quite as special as I expected from the enthusiastic reviews.

The motel is located right on the beautiful Oregon Coast where the beach is literally steps away.

The staff was extremely professional, cheerful and helpful. They recommended wonderful places to eat and visit throughout our stay.

The room was comfortable, emaculately clean and well maintained.

There was alway fresh coffee, bagels, apples and the largest muffins I've ever seen, in the morning and fresh popcorn throughout the day.

The indoor pool and small workout facilty was very nice to relax in after visiting all the worderful sights in Newport.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and feel like we were a part of their family. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend "The Whaler" to anyone.

I cannot say enough how great this view is, and how peaceful the walk on the beach was. The balcony was a place you could just hang out on for a few hours with a book and enjoy the ocean and sun. The rooms are a little bit stale-looking. They need to paint, too stark, but it didn't matter because the rest of it is very nice. Comfortable room and friendly service.
