“Beautiful place and a completely restful stay!!!”
Reviewed 7 March 2012

If you choose this B&B, you will be in for a real treat. We treated ourselves to two nights, and completely enjoyed ourselves. I think this beautiful house is in the perfect location --- right on the ocean, and about 1 mile from the noise of the busier area of Newport (but right on the main road, so easy to get to everything). Dawn and Craig were great hosts --- they were both welcoming, and gave us good tips on where to go and what to see. Breakfasts were plentiful and delicious ---- and if you get peckish in the afternoon (or evening), there are freshly baked cookies. We didn't take advantage of the complimentary wine, but it's very nice that it's offered. There are no TVs (fine by us), but there is music available that you can turn in on your room - which was nice to have in the evening when we were reading.

Did I mention this house is right on the ocean? We had an amazing view from our room, and it was an easy walk down to the beach. This is a great place to stay, and we would definitely come back here for a restful getaway.

Please note that Dawn and Craig are fairly new owners of this establishment, so if you're reading reviews here on TripAdvisor, definitely don't look at ones that are older than October (which is when they took over this B&B). They have done a very nice job, and they have some great ideas for what they'd like to do in the future.

Room Tip: We chose the Windswept room, which had an AMAZING view, and was large. The bed was also super-comfy...

This was a get-away for my husband and I before he left for a year deployment. We found it on the internet by chance. We couldn't have been more thrilled with Ocean House!! The owners were so welcoming and it really felt like a home away from home without having to do any of the work! I can't say enough positive things about Ocean House, Craig and Dawn and the location. I especially loved the location, it's tucked away with no traffic but close to anything you need. My husband and I are planning to stay there as soon as he returns from him deployment!!

Your host's are putting thier heart and soul into their home and providing you with surrounding area information as they know it. Being a native Oregonian, but living and working in Washington, I planned this getaway with my still "local" parents for a late Christmas gift and long awaited get together in December, Craig pointed me to the Festival then...thank you sir...Mrs Dawn, we all have to say your morning breakfast was just GREAT to wake up to, for three mornings, we all enjoyed the feast's...thank you ma'am. Wi-Fi with no interuptions was great, was able to watch some on-line viewing as there is no television connection. Request a 'set upon arrival and you can bring your own movies and watch them...small issue for those who are there for Rest and Relaxation. Overall rating from my family to your: Excellent

Room Tip: Stayed in the Far East room, parents in the Pacific Breezes room...both room very nice, bed a bit st...

We just returned from our 4th stay at Ocean House and the first since the new owners, Dawn and Craig, arrived. We were pleased that Ocean House retains all that we love about the place. Dawn and Craig are welcoming and extremely hospitable, I truly felt like a welcome guest in their home. The location, just north of Newport is fantastic; an easy walk down to the beach or over to the Yaquina Headlands (Save the $7 parking fee and enjoy the walk and exercise; the lighthouse is a 30 minute walk from Ocean House). The breakfasts were delicious and wine and cookies by the fireplace in the evening warmed us after a day on the coast. We stayed in the Sea Rose room, which is our favorite because it has a solarium/"sun room" which is great, especially when the sun doesn't shine and the storms are blowing. We can sit in our cosy spot and watch the waves hit the beach. Whether you are travelling the coast, or Newport is your destination, I can wholeheartedly recommend Ocean House. But if you come when we are visiting - You can't have Sea Rose.

We live in Corvallis and love our occasional mini-vacations up and down the coast. Over the decades, we found most B&B's more than satisfactory, but Ocean House and its new owners - Dawn and Craig - are the absolute tops. The rooms are all surprisingly unique, both in architecture and in decor. We especially the liked the spacious and comfortable sitting area and views, the comfortable bed and the truly gourmet breakfast that greeted us in the morning. Instead of trying out new places, we plan on coming to Ocean House and nowhere else in the future.

Room Tip: All had incredible views and if our bed was typical, the bed was more than comfortable.

We stumbled upon this B&B when driving around Newport. We arrived, unannounced, and the owner immediately invited us in and offered us accommodations. He also took the time to give us a tour of the house, and we can only describe the rooms as incredibly beautiful. The rooms at the top of the house appear to have nice ocean views, not really what we would describe as ocean-front, but looking over a stunning garden and trees for a great partial ocean view. The owners identified that they were new to the B&B, and we noticed a few growing pains (we fully expect the B&B and the hosts to just get better). Only disappointment was not the B&B but the beach...we took a beautiful walk down to the beach to find that we could only access a very small strip of land. We could look across the rapidly flowing stream to see miles of beautiful beach but the only way to access that was to drive into Newport.

We are very happy when we have made our guests satisfied with their stay. Unfortunatly, when Mother Nature has other plans, we can accomodate only so much and then we offer alternate plans. The beaches of Oregon are gorgous but left completely natural so that means when there are coastal flows from the mountains they find their way to the ocean unobstructed. Luckily this is seasonal.

We stayed at the Ocean House once again, in December of 2011, and were thrilled that the new innkeepers were even more accommodating and friendly than the last. Every room is unique with its own charm. This time we stayed in the Sea Rose room, our favorite, so far. We think it has the best view along with the most wonderful sun room that was so cozy, especially while watching the amazing sunset over the ocean and late at night spotting the crab boats at sea. We are looking forward to another stay in the Sea Rose, hopefully, during a big storm to really enjoy the glassed in area.

Our breakfast was simply as good as it gets, with a perfectly prepared Crab Benedict. (It pays to go during crabbing season.) And the always available wine and fresh-baked cookies are terrific. We are hoping the new innkeepers have the recipe for the wonderful Ranger Cookies we enjoyed their in the past.

We have always hesitated to stay in B & B type inns because we really like our privacy. The Ocean House gives you as much privacy as you like along with a lovely living room where we enjoyed curling up in comfy leather furniture in front of the fireplace and beautiful Christmas tree. I could really see this as a great place for friends and family to stay.

We are already planning our next stay there…
