The Lodge has one of the most scenic views on the entire Oregon coast. The food and service are good and the view outstanding, take the time to stop by and enjoy this treasure.

Just had lunch at The Lodge at Otter Crest, and we were very impressed. The mushroom plate (bowl, actually) featured locally foraged lobster mushrooms and chanterelles, with crimini, sautéed with shallot and a little garlic and finished with a light sherry cream sauce and the chef's "green sauce" (a yummy herb sauce). The manilla clams were also sauced with green sauce, and were excellent. No drawn butter necessary--the sauce might be a bit over-buttered, but it was very tasty. The broth from both the clams and the mushrooms came home with us, to go into a soup sometime soon. The coho pappardelle was very nice, though the pasta was more chewy than al dente. The salmon was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was excellent if a bit under-salted. The Flying Dutchman Chardonnay was excellent.

The setting of the restaurant is one of the most spectacular on the Oregon Coast, with simultaneous views of Cape Foulweather and Gull Rock. We were there near high tide, with a storm approaching, and the surf show was marvelous.

The place is difficult to find, but very worth the effort! Take the Inn at Otter Crest driveway from Otter Crest Loop Road, just west of Hwy. 101 between the Lookout at Cape Foulweather and the Devil's Punchbowl State Park and Otter Rock, and go to the end of the road. It sits on a plateau just above the Pacific, on the grounds of the Inn at Otter Crest, in their conference center, the site of the old Flying Dutchman restaurant.

The Inn at Otter Crest is one of the most spectacular locations on the Oregon Coast. Now, the Lodge Restaurant is open and providing outstanding meals and service to those lucky enough to seek out this establishment. The view is of the grand Pacific, out toward Gull rock and the south face of Cape Foulweather, gorgeous. Last night we saw whales spouting, pelicans gliding along the waves and an eagle swoop by, while we ate dinner - the place is magical. All the rooms have ocean view and now with the restaurant, there is little reason to even leave Otter Crest during your visit.
