Bob Straub State Park is tucked away a few miles off Highway 101 so does not get nearly the number of visitors as some other SPs. There are restrooms but not much else here.
We visited on a pleasant fall afternoon and parked in the paved parking lot. To get to the beach, we climbed up over the small dunes. The beach is wide, flat and goes seemingly "forever" in each direction! You have a great view of "the other" Haystack Rock - this one is less well known than the one of the same name in Cannon Beach but is just as large if not a bit bigger.
This is one of the few SPs that allow horses, and we saw a couple of local riders heading out for a nice beach ride.
This park is a great place to visit the beach and enjoy the solitude.
