“Nicely done”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

Being as this is one of the only restaurants in Pacific City, we weren't sure what to expect. I had the pork chop with cabbage braised with apples, bacon, and hazelnuts (I think), along with seasonal vegetables and mashed potatoes. The cabbage mixture was excellent and went well with the pork. The seasonal vegetables were also excellent - butternut squash with julienned carrots and other veggies. Overall, very impressed. The hubs had the combo pizza. He wasn't as impressed since it was a lot of dough and not as much toppings as he prefers, but it was good, too. He also had their Kiwanda Cream Ale which was very tasty. It was a nice surprise to find such good food.

“Nice place, Food OK, but customer service poor.”
Reviewed 6 April 2014

We were really looking forward to this place opening, but so far, it has been a disappointment. We have been there twice. The last time was about 4 weeks ago. It was a Sunday. We arrived shortly before they opened, but the door was open and we saw some other people go in so we went inside. They were a bit short in their tone in saying that they were not open for another 10 minutes, but I let it go because they were right. I would not have gone in if I didn't see the other people go in first, but I thought possible the posted hours were incorrect. Either way, not that big of a deal. The woman there told us we could stay inside and wait as did the other people. We waited and other people began to arrive. We decided what we want and my husband went up to the bar. He was standing near the end of the bar about 1-2' from the waitress who was behind the bar. She was directly in front of him, but some other people came in and went to the very end of the bar which is apparently where you have to order from. She completely ignored him and (even though he was there first and she clearly saw him) because apparently he wasn't in the correct spot. He went over and got in-line. We almost left at that point. We both felt like she could have said something to him about - hey can you come around to the end of the bar, or we take orders at the end of the bar, but instead she just ignored him until he figure out he was in the wrong spot. We ordered and the tone of the people working there remained the same. They definitely gave off the feeling that they were doing everyone a favor by being there. It is really too bad. There are not a lot of somewhat hip and newer places in Tillamook County. But after two negatives experiences, we won't be back. Good beer, decent food, nice place facility (although cold temperature wise as well, they have the outdoor heat lamps going inside to try to deal with that, but if you aren't able to sit next to one of the heat lamps it can be cold), and very unfriendly service. Also, somewhat small seating area.

“Average pub food, but a cool experience in Tillamook”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

If you come to Tillamook, you should experience the Pelican. The burgers we had were nothing special, but the fries were great, the beer choices were really good and the building is inspired, with the restaurant seating overlooking the beer-making facilities. In a town where most of the dining choices are tired and overpriced, or just ordinary franchised fast food, this is a welcome change of pace. It's a block or two off the beaten path, but it's worth the visit.
