“The OTHER side of Mt. Hood”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

This was a return stay at Cooper Spur Mt. Resort--after many years. The Resort is probably even better than on our first visit. Lovely setting, comfy room, excellent meal at the restaurant. Only minus--our room's lighting was minimal. VERY dark even in the daytime. Needs brighter, overhead lighting. Room would have rated higher if lighting had been better. Liked having a DVD player, which we used. WiFi worked well. Breakfast wasn't available at restaurant, but a microwave in hallway made breakfast prep easy. Staff was helpful and efficient. The resort is very convenient to nice hiking trails, waterfall, etc. Only downside...we couldn't drive up to Cloud Cap Inn with its wonderful vistas of Mt. Hood--the road is closed because of falling dead tree hazards, after a forest fire several years ago. We'll come back when the road is open again!

Thank you, thank you for your wonderful feedback. It is touching to see such sweet comments and to know that some moons later your experience here has only gotten better. The Cooper Spur staff has done an amazing job at rejuvenating, yet embracing the timeless cozy and quaint character of this unique resort here on the north side of Mt. Hood. I apologize that our lighting was lacking. In an effort to preserve the rustic -and- charming -mountain -living ambiance we have kept the lighting dim. However, I have spoken with our maintenance staff and we are discussing other solutions to resolve this matter. We greatly appreciate your time and continued interest with us and seeing as the Cloud Cap road is now OPEN (Hooray!) we really hope to see you again soon!

Our family just concluded a great wedding experience at Cooper Spur. The cabins are fun and rustic, the tavern has great food (a delightful surprise!) with a fun bar. The staff at the resort and the tavern are fun and provide great service. The mountain location was perfect for hiking and just hanging out.

We have enjoyed several meals here over the past year. The building is beautiful with fascinating photos on the walls depicting the history of the north side of Mt. Hood. These photos go back 120 years and show the people and their equipment as they are hiking, climbing or skiing on Mt. Hood.the food has always been creative and delicious at a good price.
We hearty recommend it!

When you want a peaceful, beautiful and extremely quiet spot to get away, this is it! Visited on my birthday and even received a free entrée at the restaurant. We stayed in Room #9 in the lodge which was very roomy and comfortable with a king bed, davenport, easy chairs and a small table as well as a mini-refrigerator. The Tamawanas Falls hike, just a few mile drive away, is spectacular! The check-in clerk, restaurant wait staff and chefs were truly excellent as were the meals (try the rib steak for dinner and one of the omelets for breakfast--they were cooked to perfection). The break fast cook we spoke with is a young man who is really excited about preparing interesting dishes--we had a chocolate and I believe cranberry scone with a wonderful chocolate sauce. I just can't say enough about our stay.

Room Tip: #9 is the only room with a king bed and is on the end of the lower floor which made it very quiet, a...

What a wonderful review!!! We are so happy and truly appreciated the time you took to write a review on Trip Advisor. We really value our guest and try to do what we can to make their vacation extra special on certain occasions. Every day in fact! Tamanawas Falls is one of my favorite hikes! A nice hike along a creek most of the way to an amazing waterfall that actually has a very unique vast dry cave behind it. There are so may hikes to choose from within this area but this one is a must! As goes for our food, our cooks truly have a love for food and passion for cooking and sharing their creations at The Crooked Tree Tavern and Grill. I know this as an avid food sampler and everything is hands down delicious!!! We really hope you come back again soon and spend some more time with us!

We visited the Cooper Spur in the summer while the kids attended ski camp at Mount Hood. Being off season, it was quiet and relaxing. The hotel is located off the main roads and is rustic and beautiful. The sunsets and the view of Mount Hood enhanced the feeling.

The hotel rooms are not new, but very well kept and clean. The on-property restaurant has a unique and tasty menu. Excellent hot tubs. I can't wait to go back.

This is really a great place. We rented the big house a few years ago for New Years and had a ball. We had snow on the ground this year so it was beautiful. We rented #5 which is my favorite. You dont feel close to anyone else and the view is great. Close to the spa as well. Not enough firewood for a lengthy fire - will bring my own next time for sure! - We all slept really comfortably and the kitchen was great. The usual array of kitchen supplies. I always bring my own big pot strainer and big salad bowl to these places because they never seem to have them and we always seem to do a pasta/ salad dinner. we cross country skied the next day. Beautiful! didnt try the tavern, they were having a wedding and the staff was pretty harried.Better than anyplace on the mountain for the price and just a hop skip and a jump from Meadows. Will be back.

It does make it such a magical stay when the snow globe gets shaken. As well as the spring when everything is growing. And the fall when the leaves are changing. Every time is a good time at Cooper Spur! We appreciate your comment about the bigger pots, strainer and bowls. We look forward to feedback about the supplies we can service and approve on.

The firewood in the cabins upon arriving is a complimentary crate for you from us at Cooper Spur. Additional is at a price of $5 per extra crate, with one of our friendly staff members delivering it straight to your door. Even if you bring your own firewood for next time we look forward to having you come back and stay with us! Next time we hope you will have a chance to check out the newest addition, The Crooked Tree Tavern, as well as the tasty food that we serve!

The room was great for the price. We were looking for cheap and close to the Meadows for our short stay. The grounds were beautiful and so quiet... we really enjoyed the serenity and the spa deck was a nice amenity! The Tavern was also great and so convenient to be able to come back and have drinks and dinner after a day of boarding. The menu pricing was beyond bargain! Staff was friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again!

Thank you for writing such a wonderful review! As one of the more closer resorts to Mt. Hood Meadows it is nice to relax in a more secluded atmosphere after a busy day on the hill. Nothing like relaxing in the hot tub with a beautiful view! Without the price hype of having other things around we like to keep our guest around as much as we can during their stay. Offering them amazing food at reasonable prices and even better so during our happy hour times at The Crooked Tree Tavern. It is so nice knowing that you would love to visit the resort again. We would love for you to come back and visit us again soon! We look forward to seeing you in the future.
