Built in the 1950's the building has had improvement dollars spent on the rooms and not so much on the exterior. This will explain the ripped outdoor carpeting on the second floor walkways. Because it is an older style building it has exterior access to all the rooms, and the rooms have windows onto the walkway.

Room 230 was next to the stairwell, and you could hear people using the stairs, but the noise was not pronounced. In fact we did not hear anything from adjacent rooms and the place was sold out. The traffic on Dorion Street outside was mostly masked by the air conditioner. The room was clean, the bathroom although quite small offered all the usual items and a nice shower head that was adjustable through a range of water spray types. Free Wi Fi requires a password to use, and the management requires the signing of the form about not smoking or having hidden pets with you. While this is a bit strange in the world of motel operation, it is somewhat understandable in an older facility that may have upkeep issues.

If you are given a 2nd floor room, there is no elevator and you have to use a rather steep staircase. The stair treads are only about 6 inches wide and perhaps not even present day code allowed. However, they are most likely grandfathered in at this location. Regardless, it is very easy to trip or tumble down with luggage in hand because of them being so shallow.

If you can do without the glitz and shine of a newer establishment, you will save about 30-45 dollars by staying here. The small complimentary breakfast area had excellent coffee, bananas, cold cereal, a nice selection of fresh pastry and a pleasant room to eat it in.

Great basic hotel at a decent price. Older small town hotels located off the highway make me nervous but this one was great. Clean, courteous staff and I would stay here again if I ever get back to Pendleton. Breakfast was simple but exactly what I like (cereal, banana, juice, bagels, hot chocolate all available)
