“Owners have lost their passion”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 January 2014

This place is done. Without new ownership/management they will soon be gone. The food is very overpriced and the quality is no longer evident. Best to try one of the other options available in Pendleton.

“Nice Quite alternative to Other Pendleton Steakhouse's”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2014

My wife and I need a place to have dinner on a Sunday evening. Several of our regular favorites in town are closed on Sunday. So we decided to go to Stetson"s. The restaurant was not too busy but you would not expect it to be on Sunday evening. It has booths and tables we selected a booth. It was clean and the atmosphere was quite so we could easily hear each other. The service was fast and I believe the owner was our waiter. We had a Scampi appetizer that was prepared perfectly and we split a Crab and steak special. The crab was served removed from the shell which was nice for ease of eating but makes me skeptical about the actual origin, but it tasted like crab and my wife was happy with it since she had more designs on crab and I was having the steak. The steak was prepared correctly but just what i would call a average cut of beef. When we finished our meal we both were pleased with the overall experience and decided we would not wait to long to go back. The service was excellent all around.

“Good steak and crab”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 November 2013

A bit pricey for the atmosphere and location, but a darn good steak and some wonderful dungeness crab. Excellent wait staff, friendly place overall. Our rib eyes were lusciously medium rare and well marbled, the blue cheese salad dressing delicious ... and we appreciated the extra blue cheese crumbles on the side to crown the top. We were on a road trip, just passing through, but if we ever come that way again, we'll be sure to make it a stop.

“GOOD FOR STEAK”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 November 2013

Making a stop in Prineville in the heart of cattle country we walked from our motel and came to the Stetson's House of Prime, which was recommended by our motel clerk ( we had a discount coupon with his number on it). Inside it was lots of hustle and bustle with wood floors and the ambiance of later version of an Old West cattlemen's bar.

Our waiter appeared after we were seated next to windows looking out on the street. After reading the menu and noting the prices $$$ we made our selections. Fresh baked bread was brought - warm and delicious! The waiter noted "the only free stuff in here is the bread and the water!" And that was the extent of our dining experience for quite awhile.

After we had eaten all the bread our salad arrived, and then a short time after that the main dishes. I don't think you can go wrong with any type of meat on the menu. But everything else is not up to the price point they charge. The green beans were over cooked, the baked potato had a cooked center but the rest was very hard. We skipped dessert as it was problematic what the quality of that might turn out to be.

I rated this Very Good only because of the steaks. I wouldn't come back for a second meal here, I think once you have paid their pricing and had a nice steak you have pretty much taken care of needing to come back again. I am disappointed when a upscale priced menu has a shortage of servers on a Friday night during the dinner hour, and the rest of the kitchen can't add value to the steaks they serve.
