“Very interesting”

We love to learn about the NW Lighthouses and, as expected, the volunteers did a great job of explaining things.

“Got wind?”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

On a day when most of the coast was being caressed by a gentle breeze, the winds at Cape Blanco were fierce, although we were told by the volunteers that it was nothing compared to how it usually is there! It was nonetheless a nice little stop, the tour is informative (and well-organized), and it truly gives one an appreciation for the work the keepers did "back in the day".

“Westernmost place in Oregon”
Reviewed 29 August 2013 via mobile

Plan on wind when you get here. It is interesting to be at the westernmost spot in Oregon. We arrived on a day it was closed but the light house looked beautiful from the distance. This is a must see on the coast.

“Hope you don't mind a little wind!!!”
Reviewed 19 August 2013

This is really worth the side trip. It's a few miles off 101 but what a great lighthouse! The campground at Cape Blanco State Park is a nice secluded stop over as well. The sensation of being on the catwalk of the glassed in top of the lighthouse with the working light right at your elbow and the wind howling around you in incompareable. Standing there it is hard to believe that waves have actually broken over the house. There is a small museum a short walk from the house itself. So be advised that they will shut the house down to visitors if the wind is much over 50 knots. We got up and out just before they shut it down for the day.

“"Incredible view"”
Reviewed 22 July 2013

It was "way cool" to visit the westernmost place in the United States! The view was beautiful. It was really cold and windy--although it was a sunny day. The wind almost blew my iPad from my hands! This lighthouse is well worth the side trip!
