Neither my husband nor I had ever stayed in a guesthouse setting before. If every guesthouse was like this, I would never book a hotel again!

We stayed in room 3, which is on the same floor as the kitchen and two of the bathrooms. Room 3 had multiple windows, a nice closet, comfy bed, extra blankets, and everything else you might need. I liked being able to see the digital clock from the bed. The comforter was a cozy duvet and everything in the room seemed very clean. Nothing frilly or fancy.

The bathroom/kitchen areas were great. The bathrooms were clean our entire stay, and we never needed to wait to use one. In fact, we saw no other guests our entire stay (only one night). The kitchen had orange juice, coffee, and cereal for breakfast- which definitely filled us up as we walked to brunch. The whole place was very homey and exceptionally clean. Occasionally we heard walking above or below, but not enough to bother us. A group of guests came in and were LOUD at about 3am, but luckily it did not last too long.

Our keys were waiting for us when we arrived for check in. They had a parking pass for our use. We had to park several blocks away but that was no big deal. The small parking drawback is a trade off for the EXCELLENT location, however. Just blocks from great bars, restaurants, shopping, streetcar stop, etc.

We will definitely be staying here in the future. We could not have imagined a more perfect place to stay, especially for such a reasonable price! The whole experience definitely felt like home away from home.

Room Tip: Room 3 is up only one flight of stairs. Centrally located to kitchen, bathrooms, and balcony.

We had an excellent experience here. Everything was as promised on the website and well described. On our very late arrival, the parking space we had reserved was waiting for us, the door code worked on the first time, keys were waiting for us, and our room was ready. Billing was exactly as promised. Room and bathroom and common areas very clean. We will definatly stay here again on our next visit to Portland. A good value.

Room Tip: Rooms 4,5, and 6 are up two sets of stairs, but are very quiet and not adjacent to common room or common kitchen

Some friends recommended we stay here during our visit to Portland. We are really glad we did!

We rented the apartment for the week, which included a kitchen, living area and a bedroom separated by french doors. The space was basic, but nice.

Some observations:
The bed was comfortable.
The bathroom had a heater and a small but nifty shower. The toilet is a little close to the wall if you're a bigger person.
The price is reasonable, and the nearby area is full of great restaurants, coffee shops, and bars.
The best part of staying there was the service from the property manager. He made us feel so welcome when we first got there and throughout our stay.

You won't regret staying here!

We just spent 6 days there. Only downside was that the apartment is in the basement, which had a bit of a musty smell, but not a deal breaker. One other quirk is that the AC/Heat control is in the management's room just above, so if you are too hot or cold it's a phone call (not the end of the world). If you like it completely dark when you sleep, bring a sleep mask. All the rest are big upsides. Has a kitchen, bed was very comfortable, staff was very responsive and friendly. Location, wow really can't do much better, a block away from 23rd restaurants and shops (much more hip and local than the Pearl District) and about 100 steps from Trader Joe's. 10 blocks from Pearl District - spend the extra $ if you have a car and grab the daily parking place. Ken's Bakery is 1/2 block towards town. This is the best decaf coffee we found in all of Portland. Parking is difficult in most of Portland, especially for large rental cars. This location is close to the Japanese Garden and rose garden.

My husband and I chose to forego the normal hotel and opted for a different experience. We had never stayed at a guesthouse, so we were unsure of what it would be like. It was great! Yes, you do sacrifice some of the niceties and extras that you get with a hotel, like your own bathroom, brand new furnitur, and the feeling that you are staying in your own little condo. But, it is well worth it! This is sharing a house with a bunch of other guests, but guess what...the two days we were there we saw one other person. I was kind of looking forward to getting to know some other guests and gleening some great travel advice from them, but it was nice that we felt like we had the "house" to ourselves. The guesthouse was so convenient to great eateries and shopping. The neighborhood is extremely quiet for being right in the hub. It was nice because you almost instantly felt like you were part of the neighborhood. The guesthouse is an old turn of the century house. The operations manager does a fantastic job of keeping it clean and cozy. Trader Joe's is right down the alley so you have vine, cheese, and produce at your fingertips, never mind Ken's Artisan bakery 1/2 a block away where you can pick up a Parisian style baguette and a salted caramel cappucino macaroon! Snag the parking space if you can, it is worth it to pull right in and park after a long day of hiking or vineyard hopping!
