Spent one night here on a road trip from Seattle back home to San Francisco. What initially attracted me to this place was the free buffet breakfast and the evening manager's reception and of course the much cheaper nightly rate compared to downtown Portland.

I would have to say - you get what you pay for. I only payed $87 pre-tax with the promotions code listed on this Trip Advisor and got an executive King Suite. When we walked into the room the smell was quite odd. It just smelled like an Old room and once we turned on the lights it felt like I warped back into the early 90's. The furniture was old and I saw a boxy heavy tv in front of me. The room wasn't dirty but it just felt like the carpet needed a good shampooing and since the furniture was so old I didn't really want to touch anything.

For one night at this price - I would say it's a good deal. The breakfast was actually pretty good and the evening's reception was also not bad as well. It included: ruffles chips, crackers, salad bar, carrot/celery sticks, and chicken noodle soup. Not luxuries, but good to just put something in your stomach. I would say they can work on the presentation.

I may consider staying here again if the rooms were a bit more modern, but overall not bad for the price.

We had a couple of problems right from the beginning of our stay, but the staff were helpful, apologetic and helped to make the situation right. Our room had been tidied, but not cleaned before we checked in (there was a used washcloth in the tub, and hairs and dirt in the sheets). When it was brought to the front desk's attention, they moved us to a larger room and gave us extra drink tickets.

The evening reception was a great extra, and a nice way to wind down after a long day of driving. The morning breakfast was good as well. We will definitely stay here again!

After reviewing comments from other Oxford Suites guests and learning about the amenities that the Oxford Suites has to offer, we chose to stay here on our first visit to the Portland area. It was a choice that we didn't regret. Our suite was clean and spacious, unlike other posts there was no peeling of paint in the bathroom or musty/mildewy smell and no filthy carpet. We did have a few concerns. One being that as a family of 5, there were only enough towels for 3 which is odd seeing that our room had 2 queen beds and suite that slept 5 to 6. After requesting more towels, on our second night, housekeeping again left few towels with only 2 facecloths, again we had to request more towels; this time the front desk staff gave us the last facecloth they had and if they found some more, they would deliver to their room-upon checkout that morning, we still didn't receive our facecloths for our family of 5. On our second day, we returned to our room and much to our surprise, the drapes were not pulled back to a sun filled room with windows open to the extremely high temperature of 90 plus degrees-need I say more, the room was HOT! with no air conditioning running, thanks to the housekeeping staff opening the windows and not closing them or turning on the air conditioning after they had finished cleaning our room. If that wasn't bad enough, our room smelled of tar as the parking lot below our room was being repaved and because the windows had been left open our room smelled of tar. We brought our concerns to the front desk staff upon checking out at which time we received an apology for the inconvienence. Other than that the front desk/registration staff was helpful with the checkin and checkout process. Travelling from Canada, and because of our length of travel, to be on the safe side we have used Travellers cheques, it has been always the norm throughout all of our hotels, that hotels will accept Travellers cheques in US currency, but this was the first time that we encountered a US hotel that did not, it is a inconvienence and a nuisance as we have paid the difference in rate of exchange, we have our id and all it takes is for the hotel to call the 1800 number to ensure that the cheques are not stolen, but in fact good as do hotels in California, Nevada, Montana, Utah, Washington, and the list goes on and on. The breakfast was well maintained and was hot. Seating was a little difficult as they had a huge breakfast crowd at 8:00 am. I do believe if you didn't want the scrambled eggs that they offered, they would make you something else on request, but again I'm not sure. The first morning we received a generous slice of ham, with hashbrowns, and scrambled eggs and of course the other usual items you would find at a comp. breakfast. The second morning, kielbasa sausage with eggs & hashbrowns. Prior to 7:30 each evening, soup and salad is also offered with 2 comp soft drinks or 2 beer or 2 glasses of wine. Upon checkin each guest party receives a ticket for the duration of their stay for breakfast and evening reception that entitles them to breakfast and reception items. I was impressed on our second evening to observe that even though 7:30 was close at hand; the staff refilled the soup crock pot as the straggling last minute guests showed up minutes before 7:30 rather than having a few drops of soup in the pot. The hotel was close to the nearby freeways, and was within a 15-20 minute drive to the airport as well as shopping areas (IKEA & Cascades Shopping district). For the nightly rate we received for a suite with 2 queen beds and sofa bed pullout and the amenities offered for a family of 2 adults & 3 children, this was a very affordable and worthwhile choice. Overall, if we were ever to travel to the Portland area in the future, we would more than likely return to this hotel.

Spent six wonderful nights here. We chose this hotel because of it's affordability and ammenities. Granted that many facets of the hotel are outdated (non electronic key cards, box type t.v. Etc.). But one thing that sets this property apart from the others are it's staff members.
They are the friendliest that I have encountered in a real long time. From the housekeepers to the breakfast staff to the evening crew and the front desk.
A special thanks to Hillary who drove us around in the shuttle and gave us great advise on our culinary adventures.
We definitely will be back.

I travelled to Portland from Vancouver, B.C. for a 3 day vacation to Portland and Oxford Suites fit the bill perfectly. The hotel is in a pretty good location, being a short (20m) transit ride from downtown or quick drive from the same area. It is located close to the highway but is surprisingly quiet inside. The evening reception and included breakfast were great touches that made the hotel more than just a place to sleep. Free parking and great front desk service made our stay incredibly easy, allowing us to focus on exploring the city.

$127.00 per night. We were booked for 5 nights to visit family. We arrive at midnight and checked out at 7:30 the next morning. The carpet was so filthy, we had to put towels down to walk on when we had our shoes off. The carpet was soaked around the a/c unit, the room smelled strongly of mildew. The furnishing were old and beaten down, the bed was like a rock. We were affraid to lay on it. The paint in the bathroom was blistered and falling on the floor in chunks. The shower head was like a power washer. Do yourself a favor, find another place...any other place.

Room Tip: Don't.

Just a short drive (maybe 10 mins) outside of downtown Portland, very budget friendly for what we got and a really good stay. We couldn't really think of any cons for this hotel other than it being particularly muggy in the hallways. Here are the pros: the beds were actually really comfy, the shower was amazing (nice and hot and great pressure - this is something that I always have a complaint about even at very pricey hotels), parking is free, evening reception every night (free drinks and usually thats all you get at most hotels but with this place you get a bunch of appies and even a really nice salad (and it wasn't the crappy just leafy lettuce kind either - good wholesome salad)), free hot breakfast every morning (again this wasn't crappy; it was the whole shabang- sausage, eggs, toast, bagels potatoes, fruit, juices - and lots more to select from), swimming pool (cannot comment on this as we didn't go).
We paid $260USD for 2 nights, for a suite with 2 queen beds and a pullout couch. The room was very spacious and easily fit the five of us. There was also a microwave and a bar fridge which is great if you want to spend an early evening in your room - beverages, sandwiches etc.
For this location I think its probably best to have a vehicle (although I'm sure a taxi ride would be relatively inexpensive). Right outside the hotel there is a safeway (starbucks inside safeway), a whole slew of fast food places - Taco Bell, KFC etc and a gas station.
Really its a great place to call home base if you are visiting Portland. For everything we got, the cleanliness and comfort of our room, after dividing the cost between the group of us - we felt like we were walking away with a steal of a deal! Note that this property is a little on the older side but very well maintained. Will definately stay at this hotel again.
