After reading the great reviews, we decided to chose this hotel for part of our stay in Portland. Well, all the good comments made about this place are true. We travel alot and found this place to be outstanding in value. We think Gildardo Tellez should get extra thanks for working so hard in the mornings making sure that everyone gets exactly what they want for breakfast. Gosh, he works so fast and tries so hard to please, filling requests. The people who help keep the eating area clean and neat should also take a bow. Front desk thanks for all your help and kindness..Cleaning staff the rooms were kept very nicely. We didn"t move to another hotel just extended our stay. My husband and I both decided why leave when we are being taken care of so well. This is a winner...
If you are looking for a top-class hotel with lots of luxury features, keep looking, but if you are looking for a GREAT and CLEAN hotel at a great price, here is it!!
We arrived about 8:30pm and went to check in. Rachel at the front desk was awesome, she could not find our reservation in the computer, but looked at the emails and found our conformation email. she discounted our room by $3/night, AND gave us a free upgrade to an Excutive Suite!
In the evenings here they have a "social hour" where there is free appetizers and drinks (wine, beer and soda). One night they had nachos and taco salad, you could have just had your whole dinner there!!
The breakfast in the morning is great. the eggs are made fresh to order, one morning there were waffles, and the other morning was French toast. There was also all kinds of other options as well!
Housekeeping was great as well, did a great job of cleaning and sprucing up the room, A+!!
The bed was quite comfortable, we slept great both nights! You can hear the planes coming in to PDX, but its not too bad if the windows are closed, we had the windows open and it didn't bother us at all.
Shopping at Jantzen Beach is decent, and it's only a 10 minute drive to Downtown Portland, or the Staff here will drive you to the MAX station and you can take public transit into Downtown.
Overall we had a great experience here and will DEFINETELY be staying here again!!
Booked a Studio King Suite for a weekend getaway and it was for an anniversary at a rate of $79 a night. Received a complimentary upgrade to a Executive King Suite, which was very spacious. Arrived at the hotel at 10am and they accommodated a early check-in. Free outdoor parking was included. Had complimentary buffet breakfast which included scrambled eggs/fried eggs, potatoes/hashbrowns, ham, orange juice/apple juice, oatmeal, cereal, etc. Food was decent and got our day started. Go before 8am if you don't want to line up long. Great seating area. Used their computers in the business center and printed somethings out as well, that was free of charge. Internet was a bit slow. They have a lot of Portland brochures in the business center as well. It would have been nice if someone had told us. They also have a third computer in the lobby to use that was free as well. Lobby and rooms were a bit out dated. Bed is really comfortable and spacious. The base board was not intacted probably or something as you put your pillow against it, it kept making noises. The room had a fridge and microwave. Hair dryer was a little outdated. As you enter the room the first thing you see is the washroom sink, which was separate from the restroom. The restroom was spacious and clean. The shower head should be updated as well, as water was spraying everywhere. The lamps in the room were kinda annoying to turn on, because you have to turn the black switch. The hotel was in a location that was not noisy. It did have a very old spell as soon as I opened the room door. Over time I did get use to it. A Chevron, Burger King and Taco Bell was across the street. Target, Best Buy, Safeway, Hooter's and Jantzen Beach Super Center was very close by. As you get off I-5, it was very hard to locate the hotel because of poor signage. You will see the Red Lion Hotel right away though. Good that we had our GPS. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and fitness center looked decent, but we didn't use. They also have a mini store behind the front desk that sold drinks, etc. Staff were average. Wasn't offered any maps or information about their facilites, other than were to go for breakfast. Overall, it was a great value for what you are paying for. I guess if they update everything, you won't be able to get such a good price.
We booked this place through Hotels.ca and the price was great only 99$ for the family and that included a fantastic breakfast. For breakfast you could have the whole works (basically anything you wanted and more) as it was buffet style and hot stuff made to order. We were full for the day. The hotel has a nice pool and gym. The room had a king sized bed and couch and office space and TV and the decor was OK. It's standard. Checking in took a long while, as there was only one person on staff, but once in the room we all slept well. The location was more out of downtown then we thought, however parking was free. This is a good deal for 99$.
