“I loved this adorable hotel! The decor...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2010

I loved this adorable hotel! The decor was charming, bright and unique. The staff were the friendliest I have ever experienced and I travel alot! The room service menu was the great many organic and locally grown choices. I loves the location as I could run down to by the rivet every morning. The cocktail hour was a nice touch too. If you like to stay somewhere unique where you will be treated like a very honored guest, then I would highly recommend Hotel Monaco. I will be back!

I was travelling to Portland, Oregon on my own. I was doing some shopping and getting a treatment from a specialist that was holding a seminar at the hotel. I had missed the time period within which to receive the room rate for the seminar, however, I spoke with the manager and advised the situation and he extended the room rate for me. While I was there I asked for two double beds in my room. I was advised that they were all sold out for those rooms but was immediately offered a complimentary upgrade. There was a complimentary wine tasting in the hotel lobby at 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It is a really nice thing for the hotel to do and it was packed. I just took a glass of wine upstairs to my room as I was on my own. If you are driving down, you can drop your car off at the valet parking in the parkade. There are a number of attendants ready and waiting to help you with your bags, etc. From the beginning to the end, it was a marvelous stay. Nothing was every too much to ask nor too little. Everyone seemed thoroughly happy to be working at this hotel and were more than happy to help out in any way they could. It definitely was a pleasant surprise in this day and age when customer service seems to be an after thought. I will definitely be back and will recommend this hotel to friends and colleagues alike.
Thanks for the memories...

One night only but everything we hoped for and more! Our dog loved it too. Service was great. Room - corner king very comfortable with great bathroom. Easy walk to some key Portland spots. Would do it again!

This has become my new favorite hotel in Portland.... my husband and I stayed for three nights in a king suite and it was amazing. The decor is funky and modern yet cozy and you can bring your dogs if you like. The location is nearby all the main attractions downtown and you can walk to many restaurants and cafes etc. The wine hour was fun to go hang out in the cool lobby and meet other travelers, many of whom had their dogs. Great hotel - we will stay here again!

This is my first stay with a Kimpton hotel and I have been very, very pleased with the experience. The service is great, the staff friendly and helpfu and the room is wonderful. I like the fun quirks about the hotel, including being able to borrow a bike, welcome sign for incoming pets in the lobby and being able to have a goldfish join you in your room. The room came with a teddy bear and fun bathrobe selections that made me smile. These small fun touches make a big difference. If you're considering staying here while in Portland, don't hesitate. Book the room!

Stayed there as a treat on our anniversary and couldn't have been more impressed. The rooms are incredible. not the biggest, but furnished and decorated better than any other room you'll find. It's located right in the heart of downtown, and it's restaurant, Red Star Tavern, is very tasty (truffle oil fries = yum). The Hotel Monaco perfectly captures Portland's youth combined with an appreciation for the finer things in life.

Wow in every way.

We were treated like royalty without any of the snobbery / pretentiousness that is usually a trademark of nicer hotels. The concierge was very generous when booking our 5 year anniversary dinner at Andina (wow wow wow wow) and the champagne in the room was a very nice surprise.

This hotel was so very comfortable and welcoming that we have sworn to only stay at Kimpton hotels from now on.
