“A new-ish but very basic Four Points”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2013

We stayed in the Four Points Portland for only one night and were greeted by a kind front desk person who quickly gave us a room. As a SPG Platinum, I had hoped we would receive an upgrade, however the hotel was apparently full booked so we were in a standard room.

The room itself was clean, large and relatively new looking, but with few amenities, it felt like a typical roadside Holiday Inn in the US, and not as nice as any other Four Points I have stayed in internationally (which are more like hotels, less like motels).

The bed was comfortable but the sheets were not Sheraton grade, which was surprising as this is the first time I have seen a Sheraton with such cheap sheets. The room was quiet, but it a noisy youth group were extremely loud in the hallways and you could hear everything.

The shower was nice and the bathroom was clean.

The continental breakfast has most likely been eaten through by the youth group so when we arrived there was next to nothing left. It was one of the scarcest and most pathetic continental breakfasts we had ever seen. Even the orange juice wasn't juice but rather a few drops of orange in a bucket of water! When we mentioned our disappointment at the front desk, the woman immediately told us to go to the "pantry" (snack shop) and take a few things - as if this hadn't been the first time she had heard this.

The hotel is quite a few miles from the city centre so it's a good place if you are looking for a cheap use of your SPG points (3000/night) and have a vehicle. But overall, just average and rather forgettable.

My parents came for my graduation and stayed here for a couple of days. The hotel is located on the edge of downtown area, and it is walking distance to the malls (pioneer place, etc) and near the train. The room was rather small and I would rate 3/5 stars for the general maintenance of the building (it looks rather old from the outside) but overall I would say the experience was pretty decent and its a good price for the location.

Congratulations on your graduation! Thank you for the feedback about your stay at our hotel. We recently renovated the interior of the building and are working on the exterior. Good luck with your future journey!

Stayed one night in May while participating in a sporting event in Portland. Hotel is near the airport and convenient for that, but not particularly a great location for access to other places of interest. Room was clean, spacious, and well maintained. No complaints there. Internet service was on the slow side but typical for many hotels. When I arrived there was a private party going on in the lobby which was loud and confusing, the adults were all drinking bottled beer with bags of chips and stuff. Really unusual and not good an attractive scene to greet arriving guests. Parties are fine; move them into a private room, not in the lobby right next to the check in desk. There is a small pool and exercise room which I did not use but the equipment looked like it was good quality stuff. I didn't use the breakfast.

Nice place. Some older reviews must reflect a place now revamped and certainly not shabby. I had hesitated staying here thanks to those reviews, but when we finally did, we liked it! We heard no noises from other rooms. Our room was away from the road and rather quiet. Hotel location? Depends what you want to do. Since we like the nearby Glendoveer walking/jogging trail, it's good for us. Much nicer hotel than what we had expected. Nice rooms. Internet a bit slow. Rooms in good shape. Good service for us. Breakfast is not fancy, but it's fine. New York Times and Oregonian a treat for my newspaper tastes.

Room Tip: Room away from road may be quieter.

A friend and I headed to Portland for a weekend where the only hotel available was the Four Points. According to Starwood's website, it had been under 'renovation' for over a year. I called to confirm that the hotel was still under construction, and the person on the other end said, no, it was finished.

Could have fooled me.

While there were still huge lurking waste bins in the parking lot, it was like stepping into a time-warp. Bad beige stucco walls and tacky casino style carpet. The hotel did not have any of the familiar features of the Four Points brand. At best, it could pass for a choice hotel, but not even a Best Western. The room had a small tube TV with a poor signal, and the room was tight and narrow. The bathroom was barren, with a hospital style plastic curtain and truck-stop style sink.

The staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. We couldn't get the wifi to work all weekend. They did not recognize my Starwood gold status, and when I asked about my status, they looked like I had asked them to name the 10th digit of Pi - they had no clue.

This Four Points supposedly offered a complimentary breakfast, but when we went down on the first morning, it was nothing more then very, very cheap pastries that looked like they came from the WinCo. My friend, who insists on staying where he can get a free breakfast, was even more upset then I was, who was expecting anything.

This hotel needs to be removed from the Starwood affiliation as soon as possible. The other four Portland properties are Superior in every way, shape, and form.

Room Tip: Don't stay here. Even for the starpoints.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We regret to hear that you did not enjoy your experience. Our hotel renovation is completely done. The waste bins you are referring to are storage bins that we use as to not clutter the public spaces that our guests use in the hotel. Each hotel room has a 32” LCD TV with HD channels. We have met with our associates to ensure customer service standards are being met. If you choose to give us another try, please reach out to the GM directly and she will take care of you. lauren@asmhotels.com

Clean, comfortable. Not much going on in this Gresham area, but all we needed was a nice place to rest on our way elsewhere. We really rely on four points. The attached restaurant looked ok, but did not eat there. Was good to have the option though.

Room Tip: Road side seems busy and noisy. Heard some rooms have view of mt hood. Our view was parking lot.
