Washington Park and the Rose Garden was one of the most beautiful and amazing places I've been to while visiting Portland! This is a must see place to visit and enjoy!

There are good walking paths here, but only a few ways in and out. I suppose that's due to terrain, but coming from the city there's only one primary entrance (unlike, say, Central Park or the Rose Kennedy Greenway which have a multitude of entrances).
The biggest reason I enjoyed Washington Park is due to the varied activities for a park within a the city. I utilized the park for an early morning (6:00am) 6-mile run on the trails, Oregon Zoo (2-3 hours), Rose Gradens 1-2 hours), and Japanese Gardens 1-2 hours). There were other activities, but we only had so many days in Portland.
Highly recommend this park for runners that enjoy running on the trails. You can probably run approx. up to a 10-mile loop on the trails.
A nice park as everyone has already correctly said, however pay attention to the trail markings and signs closely and you will clearly see some are just flat out wrong, so pay heed when using their signage here.
Also they need more restrooms here.
We were there on a perfect sunny day and the aroma of the roses literally filled the air! The beauty of the colors and variety was truly breathtaking. Loved chatting with the volunteers who were caring for the clipping of the roses. Enjoyed watching an artist at work capturing the scenery on canvas. We could have wandered for hours. One negative is the pay to park metering that's a real pain, the machine's directions had us all frustrated.
