A few blocks out of the main tourist areas, a very European style hotel with a lovely dining room, bar and excellent staff. Rooms are themed, which is totally unnecessary.
Stay here if you want to get away from the ugly box rooms of chain hotels.

My fiance and I just recently went to portland and stay at the deluxe. The staff was very firendly and helped us all the time with directions and bars and restaurants to check out. The happy hour at the hotel is great with delicious apps and drinks. The hotel decor is was really cool with all the old movies as the backdrop. We were close to everything in downtown portlan and were walked everywhere from our hotel. When in portland make sure to try pok pok its an amazing restaurant. this [place is a drivve its outside of the downtown area but worth the drive...its amazing the front desk told us exactly how to get there.

What a beautiful hotel! The rooms are comfortable and elegant, complete with the best sheets I have ever slept in! The happy hour in the lobby is lovely and the food from the Driftwood Room is incredible! The staff is friendly and warm and made us feel right at home. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an elegant, nostalgic place to stay in downtown Portland.

Room Tip: The queen rooms are very small and best for one person.

Calling a hotel 'deluxe' is a hostage to fortune, whilst good we found it fell short of its name. It is imaginatively decorated, comfortable, clean and quiet.
However:
- we had no view from our room, another window being a few feet away in a kind of light well
- the location is close to but not quite downtown, in a dull immediate neighbourhood
- there was no extractor fan in what became a very misty bathroom
- one side of the bed had no table or reading light
- there was barely any room for a second suitcase
- do bring a laptop, the internet charge in the business centre is an extortionate $25 an hour.

Really enjoyed my stay. Location was great - Portland is a very small city so getting around the downtown was super easy and fast. Maybe a 1 mile walk to the river is all. Pearl district to the north a 5 minute walk.

Room is small, train passes below and can be noisy, as were the people slamming their doors in the hallway. Could hear the guy in the next room peeing in his toilet.

Classic old downtown hotel feel while being very clean and quaint. Most downtown hotels I've been in are old mildewy and gross. This place is top notch, but certainly not luxury.

Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Maybe a room on the backside to avoid train noise?
