Zip off the 405/30 bridge and you're 1 minute from the lobby. Walking to everything in the Alphabet district (21st & 23rd Ave.) for great food, coffee, bars, brews, pool, shopping. Want to get to the West? Catch 405 south to 26 West...5 minutes to the zoo, 12 min. to Intel or Nike, 20 minutes to Pumpkin Ridge for the best golf in Portland. Breakfast is included (albeit not the most healthy but hot scrambled eggs & breakfast sausages, coffee, juice, yogurt, fruit, pastries). Very clean room & large LG flat screen LCD TV (50") in each room. Friendly & helpful staff.

I am so thrilled that we stayed here...i would definitely stay here again. It's about 4 stories with enough parking out back and next to the lobby. Really loved the area. We walked around to some restaurants during the day and at night and we felt safe...even in the rain. Silver cloud inn has 24hour complimentary coffee and hot tea in the breakfast area, free morning paper, WiFi, free laundry facilities (laundry soap at the front desk was about $1) and breakfast. Breakfast was the usual- cereal, toast, muffins/pastries, eggs, meat and waffles. But better than nothing, we were happy with it. Just keep in mind that on the weekdays they serve breakfast from 6am-9am and i think 7am-10am on the weekends....we didn't realize that coming in on a Saturday so when we went down for breakfast on Monday morning at about 9am and everything was already put away. Room was nice and cozy-just wish we were on the higher floor so we could really hear the rain coming down...doors to the room are kind of thin because we could hear when people would close their doors somewhere down the hall and these doors don't close quietly. Also we were on the second floor and either the floors are pretty thin too or the people above us really stomp around when they walk but we could hear them walking up there every once and a while. Other than that we LOVED our stay!

Room Tip: Try to get the highest floor if you don't want to hear footsteps above you

Last month I was looking for an affordable quality hotel to stay at in Portland while attending the Portland Feast. Unfortunately I waited until the last minute, and with numerous events going on around town, I thought I would be out of luck. Thankfully I was able to find the Silver Cloud Inn. The hotel offered excellent amenities (free parking, great free continental breakfast), spacious rooms and friendly staff. Although the hotel is not within walking distance to downtown, it is situated in the middle of Northwest Portland, a great neighborhood that you might normally miss on a quick weekend trip to the city. Unfortunately, either due to thin walls or having a room next to the elevators, the hallways were unusually loud at night and in the morning. While the Silver Cloud offers a decent value, the noisy hallways made sleep extremely difficult.

Thank you for expressing your experience at the Silver Cloud Inn. Customer service and selling sleep are our priorities. I'm sorry to hear there was a noise issue in the area where you stayed. We will be installing new corridor carpet next month and will be able to address any hall issues at that time.
Thanks for staying with us.

I am always relentless when finding the right hotel at the right location at the right price. This one fits the bill. we had looked at the eastside of the river for more value but so glad we chose this location. Better than downtown also as you are in a real neighbourhood with tons to do around the corner. The NW area is great. Hotel is a few short Portland style blocks to the street car also.
Great rooms , very spacious. The street side did not bother us as we live on a busy street anyway. Great to have some eggs and sausages, fruit, whole grain cereal etc. There were oranges and bananas every do day. We got our own bread at Trader Joes as we are a bit fussy that way. My only complaint being that we are restless sleepers is the beds are very bouncy and could use an upgrade to pocket coils, but still comfy. Thanks and we will return

Stayed here on and off for two weeks while visiting our daughter in Portland. The hotel is clean, convenient walking distance to restaurants but need a car to get to Pearl district, rose district etc. people here are friendly, staff could not be more helpful. Breakfast is plentiful but the same every day. Rooms are immaculate but we've seen better beds. Begin to show signs of use this year. We are here every year. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Upper floors are quietest!

Liked everything about our stay. Good location near 23rd ave that had a bit of everything. Enjoyed some craft beer and restaurants. Caught public transportation that took us downtown. The room was very spacious and quiet. Staff were attentive. Great breakfast too.

There is much to like and only a little bit to quibble about with with The Silver Cloud. Upon arrival, do not expect much"curb appeal", but it is clean and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. They steered us to,a great restaurant the first night and gave us two free passes for the streetcar downtown. Breakfasts are good, though expect the usual, institutional quality fare. They did not have enough seats to accommodate us in the dining room, but there were nice overflow tables in the lobby. ,You get a free paper delivered every morning! My biggest quibble was the fan in our room which created quite a draft. It was next to the couch and des. There was no way to read or work, without getting a chill. We were never able to adjust it to our satisfaction. Our room was 327 so you may want to avoid it. Best thing about the inn is its location close to restaurants and night life. Take some care walking home late at night because it is near some poorly lighted streets.
