We loved our stay at The Lion and the Rose Inn in Portland, Oregon. Entering the Victorian house is stepping back into history, but with all the modern amenities. You, the visitor, are treated like a treasured guest. Snacks (candy, mixed nuts, cookies), sodas, juice, coffee, tea are always available. The internet connections (at no charge) are easy to make and worked well in the house. Our room, the Joseph, had a large bay window, a high bed (yes, I need the steps up to the bed). It is quiet even though it overlooks the street. The Turkish towels and bath amenities are delightful. The Comphy sheets provide a restful night (the best we had during our travels). The full breakfast is delicious with several choices, including fresh fruit. We had a great time meeting new people. The only downside is that the parking is on the street. The Inn is in a safe neighborhood, but parking close to the Inn can be tricky at times. Over-all, I highly recommend it. The Inn keepers were great to work with when I had to cancel our first reservation.

The B&B was adorable. The rooms were beautifully decorated and quite charming. The food was excellent.
For people who weren't familiar with Portland, our hosts did a wonderful job of explaining the area and provided helpful maps. The neighborhood hear the B&B had a great deal to offer, and the convenience of the metro stop provided quick access to everything else in town. We didn't drive anywhere.

Steve, Dusty & Russ (and Dusty-of-the-Kitchen) serve up a most enjoyable B&B experience. I was in Portland to take a high-stress-level course in old-world shoemaking, and it was a great relief knowing I had my beautiful and quiet room to return to after class each day. Breakfast was great, even though I had to leave so early each morning that I could only have a 'mini-breakfast' rather than the full breakfast - but lots of places wouldn't go to that much trouble to make a breakfast for one person, at an earlier hour. I can't find anything negative to report about the Lion & the Rose, except that I had to leave! Thanks, folks, for making my stay in Portland both enjoyable and convenient.

We found the management to be flexible to our needs, as we needed to extend our stay one night. We stayed in the garden apartment, and although we were mildly disappointed prior to our visit because we had hoped to stay on the second floor, found the accomodations to be excellent. The breakfasts were remarkable and on our final morning, we needed to eat a half hour early. We were easily accomodated by the staff, and headed off to the airport without stress.

Traveling with a family of 5 is always a challenge, especially when you have older kids. I am always looking for unique and memorable places to stay. The Lion and the Rose B&B fit the bill. We stayed in their roomy apartment complete with kitchen and dining room. We felt totally at home. Our inkeepers Steve and Dusty were terrific hosts, suppying us with all the information and maps needed for our sightseeing adventures. Their endless supplies of teas, soda's and goodies kept my family very happy (Mom too). I loved the tour and history of their beautiful Victoria home. Thanks Steve and Dusty for a wonderful time. We will be back.

This is a beautiful Victorian Inn. The bedroom and bath were comfortable, clean, and beautifully decorated (and air conditioned, it was in the 90's the week we were in Portland). Hosts and Inn owners were friendly and cooperative. The gardens were in bloom and lovely. We walked to restaurants and stores. A free light rail line is four blocks away. We will return.
