We loved our stay at The Lion and the Rose Inn in Portland, Oregon. Entering the Victorian house is stepping back into history, but with all the modern amenities. You, the visitor, are treated like a treasured guest. Snacks (candy, mixed nuts, cookies), sodas, juice, coffee, tea are always available. The internet connections (at no charge) are easy to make and worked well in the house. Our room, the Joseph, had a large bay window, a high bed (yes, I need the steps up to the bed). It is quiet even though it overlooks the street. The Turkish towels and bath amenities are delightful. The Comphy sheets provide a restful night (the best we had during our travels). The full breakfast is delicious with several choices, including fresh fruit. We had a great time meeting new people. The only downside is that the parking is on the street. The Inn is in a safe neighborhood, but parking close to the Inn can be tricky at times. Over-all, I highly recommend it. The Inn keepers were great to work with when I had to cancel our first reservation.
