City hiking - fun and educational! Nice escape from concrete but still close enough to grab a latte afterwards. Try to connect to the Wildwood trail for a nice workout and views.

A great place to view Portland's amazing tall trees and smell the pleasant ferns. Trails were in good shape but perhaps the signage could have been clearer.

How can a forest just 5 minutes from a downtown of a major city be a bad thing? Great trails and trees.

Hoyt arboretum is in Washington park close to the Portland zoo. It is free but will soon start charging for parking ($4). The volunteer in the visitor center can give you a map of all the trails and explain the layout. We took the two hour loop and added a stop at the Viet Nam memorial. Bring a picnic and enjoy hiking through a huge variety of trees.

Great trails, but they are in need of more clearly placed signs. We got lost and confused several times, but still enjoyed the beauty of the place. A nice treat were all the well marked trees.
