“Wow! Blown away by this small garden, beautiful design and amazing views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014

This garden is tucked away in a residential neighborhood. I was expecting a pleasant little garden to spend maybe 15 or 20 minutes in. I think we stayed over an hour. It just kept getting better and better! It is hard to explain what made it so nice: beautiful trees, meandering paths and the views of the river and Mount Hood. It is a very well designed garden and if you love gardens or are looking for a peaceful retreat, this is a place not to be missed.

“Practically Perfect ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2014 via mobile

Found it years ago, and now I return often - sometimes weekly - to see what's in bloom. Small, but large enough that a 30- minute meander stays interesting, Elk Rock Garden is a peaceful little jewel hidden away between Lake Oswego and Portland. Great Willamette River views any day, and a postcard view of Mt Hood on clear days.

Sunset is gorgeous here; they close the gates at 5, so catch your sunset at mid winter. January through June is the best time to visit; successions of scented blooms and dramatic floral displays start early.

If you go later in the year, wait until afternoon and let somebody else break all the spiderwebs.

“Hidden gem and best in early spring”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 February 2014

This surprising garden is a delight in spring, and particularly early. Right now in January/February, there are abundant hellebores; witch hazels; loads of naturalized bulbs, including a mass of crocuses in the lawn. Well worth finding and a tour. Only takes an hour or so.

“Best semi-private garden in Portland”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

Wander at your leisure; delightful and charming; never fails to impress; well maintained. Private residence until donated to the church; site of many interesting historical happenings. Research the Kerr family for inside info.

“Perfect Portland Garden”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2013

This garden is a true hidden gem. It is a perfect Portland Garden, take a lovely stroll along the forested paths overlooking the river, delight in the beautiful flowers and trees. Terrific view of Mt. Hood too. I think you will get a real sense of Oregons true beauty at Elk Rock.
