Owner description: The Oregon Maritime Museum is housed on the historic steam-powered sternwheel ship-assist tugboat, the PORTLAND, which is docked on the foot of Pine St and Naito Parkway. The PORTLAND is a gem of a boat - she has been lovingly restored from pilot house to engine room. Artifacts displayed on the cabin deck represent a small fraction of the deep history of the working river in the Portland/Vancouver region. Guided tours take you through the entire boat, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Include us on your next stop to the Saturday Market. We are a dedicated group who welcome your local support!

“good attraction for children”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2009

This is a good attraction for children, since you can wander around the ship. Highlights include the engine room, as well as the pilot's bunkroom. There are a number of marine experts who volunteer at the museum, and are glad to share their knowledge.

“Fascinating boat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2005

The museum is on a steam powered paddle-wheel tug. They have a collection of various paintings and models of relevant ships. You can go up into the pilot house. But the real highlight is the engine room. The boiler, steam engines, and control systems are a wonderful example of the technical skill of a previous era. Highly recommended.
