“Keep on driving…”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

We just came back from a long weekend trip to Portland. We made the mistake of booking this with Expedia's hidden hotel for cheaper prices. I regret this now.
The hotel is located in a rather sketchy part of town. We went to the 7-11 next door and didn't feel safe at all. A lot of "undesirables" hanging around. I felt like I was going to be on an episode of COPS at any moment!
After a 600km/375mi drive, we checked in around 9:30pm. The front desk staff was not very welcoming or warm. Sure she may have been a little busy but that's no reason to be short with us.
We booked a room with two beds but we received a room with one bed and a sofa bed. I went to ask if we could change to the room we booked and were told no, they were all taken. The only room available was a business room for $230 per night, the cost of three nights in a regular room. The room itself wasn't clean either. There was a straw on the floor, the floor itself wasn't very clean, and the sofa bed had no sheets. We called down to the front desk and when someone showed up, we had to sheet the bed ourselves. On top of that, when we opened up the sofa bed, we found a half eaten bag of chips. Nice… or not! There was no fly screen on the window but at least the a/c worked! The bathroom had no working fan to get rid of the shower steam which probably explains why the wallpaper was peeling off. The shower rail was hanging off so the curtain wouldn't close either.
The pool looked nice but the water was quite cool and cloudy too. The hot tub was good though.
Breakfast was poor. The juice machine wasn't working as it should and the coffee was weak.
Overall, I would not recommend this property to anyone.

Last week my family booked two rooms at this hotel. What a mistake this was. The first room
had no electronic key. You had to use the MASTER to get in and then return it every time
after getting in. The bathroom had been recently "repaired" and had a shower curtain rod
so badly mounted that the shower curtain could not stay in place while using the shower. The second room had a broken AC, so had to change to another room. It had cob webs, a USED
comp shampoo bottle. The remote would not work on the tv. Also, a wrecked vehicle was parked in the rear of the hotel
No manager was ever to be found, and the front desk clerk on checkout was rude to my son
as he pointed out the many problems upon checkout. We would have all been better off
sleeping in our cars! I would not recommend this place to anyone

Once you get past the lobby it matches the neighborhood! First clerk was very friendly but the rest, of the staff, downright rude! Portland was extremely busy that weekend so they jacked up the prices on th cruddy rooms to $160, $195 then up to $350. One end of the parking lot is gated off with a huge chain. While this keeps you from wandering out into a scary neighborhood it makes the parking lot a nightmare! Narrow and no where to turn around and to compound this the "manager" parks his wanna be pimp-daddy ride white Car right in front of the doors or half in a parking spot which makes it even narrower! Most rooms have no screens. At night there is high traffic walking up to the lower corner of the building, a steady stream of people having some reason to go off the sidewalk, to the window or doorway and back out in about a15 second interaction or transaction maybe? Don't know if it was staff or guest but it had to be a regular deal based on the traffic. The hotel room rattle, creaked, the doors slammed, and people ran up and down the halls until around 4:00 a.m. every step shook the building. A toddler walking sounded like a big kid stomping. Cheap, flimsy, walls and floors. What else can I tell you.... Oh, rude.signs pasted on the counter, which tells you 1. The "customer service" you're about to get and 2. The clientele you will be bunking with! Nothing healthy for breakfast, no eggs no yogurt. And they have a rude sign that you can not take your breakfast back to your room!!! So enjoy your canned gravy with a bazillion kids running around you! Free was too much, we went out for breakfast both mornings. Our busy day out, we got back at 2:30 TO NO MAID SERVICE YET! First day no soap, no coffee, no Kleenex, second day HAD TO TRACK THEM DOWN AND ASK for everything again which by the way... good luck, 1 in 5 maids speak English. TV is old crappy box tv. Ice machines were all out of order! (See review from 2012, no ice then either) They quadrupled their prices but can't fix ice machines?! First thing in the a.m. whole parking lot covered in trash! Night fall.... you don't dare go outside! Need I keep going?! Dump! Avoid it! It's gross! We paid $168 for 2 nights which was 10x too much. Don't be fooled by the old pictures! It does not look like that anymore!!!!

Ok we didn't see any roaches, but I felt at any moment I could step on one. We walked into the room and felt dirty. I didn't take my sandals off once until bed, and put them on right away when I woke up. The bathroom was dark, and towels were thin. It was also in a sketchy part of town. I wasn't comfortable leaving our wedding items in the car at all, so we dragged it all in (we were headed to the beach and were tired from driving so we decided to stay a night).

As previously mentioned the outside looked fine but the inside left much to be desired. The lobby was clean but no welcoming coffee. The carpet was dirty in our room. I wore my shoes inside the entire time. The mattresses were lumpy and the bedding old. The bathroom was okay but not enough towels. The breakfast was non existent and not one staff member did anything to replenish anything. We went back twice, still no coffee or orange juice. About the only thing available were the waffles and a little dry cereal. The morning clerk was talking on her phone, personal call, personal cell, ignoring the guests coming and going. We were way overcharged. The only positive was the evening clerk who was very pleasant (Sorry I missed her name).

The hotel has a nice look on first look, but then it kind of falls apart.
The shower head in our room had a leak and sprayed a stream onto the ceiling and then the cold water onto to my head. From the crude patches on the ceiling, this has been a problem for a while. there had been painting done, and the painter got paint all over the wall. Not huge, but it just says, "We dont really care". The ice machine was broken, so no ice in the hotel. The waffle maker was broken at breakfast. The ladder to get out of the pool was broken, making it an acrobatic challenge to get out. The hot tub was extremely murky.
To top it all off, at 10:45 in the morning, check out is at 11, the front desk person goes around and knocks on doors asking people to check out. What?
Finally, there were many nice customers in the hotel, but there were an equal number of them who looked like they were on a field trip from San Quinton prison. Not to mention the many vagrants hanging around the hotel.
