“Wonderful place to stay in Portland”
Reviewed 9 August 2012

I stayed here recently, and was very impressed. The hotel is right off the airport access road. Super convenient and easy to get to. Almost no airplane noise that I could hear and it was in a nice office complex to boot. The rooms are the new Hyatt Place rooms. Comfortable modern rooms, with nice ammenties and layouts. Breakfast was nice and upscale as well. It was included in the room charge.
Staff was very pleasant and very helpful. I found them to be very engaging and responsive to my needs. I would stay here again for all the easy it brought to my trip.

We stayed here for three nights and it was the best! There are lots of stores, shops and restaurants nearby. They are all really nice as well. There is free parking and an excellent free breakfast every morning! Airplanes do fly by the windows but you can barely here them (they didn't wake and of us up at night) and it's actually very interesting to see them that close. We wouldn't stay anywhere else while we are in Portland!

Well, you don't come here because it is a hip hotel or for the atmosphere.

This said, the Hyatt Place is a very good quality hotel located close the the Portland Intl Airport in a quiet and convenient area.

The Hyatt Place standard room is very large with a living area with a kitchen bar featuring a small fridge, microwave and a sink. It also have very nice working desk complemented by a good free internet connection.

The hotel has a small bar area and serves a limited selection of made to order snacks. The Hyatt is located in Cascade Station which has a few restaurants and some shopping within close walking distance. Shopping includes Marshall's, DSW and Target.

You can also walk to the tram and get downtown very easily. Very convenient free parking.

Overall, a very good stay.

We booked here on Hyatt points but based on what we would have paid, I think it was an excellent value. Free parking, easy access to the airport and expressway. There was a Target, Starbucks, several restaurants nearby. Free coffee all day, free breakfast. Rooms are large and comfortable, nice to have a couch and a desk as my husband had to work while we were there. The staff was great and very helpful with everything. We did have a bit of trouble trying to get the maids to service our room but gave them the benefit of the doubt as we had originally only planned to stay for a day but extended to two, so they were a bit confused.

Tip for runners/walkers - there is an excellent exercise path only about a half mile away on the river by the airport.

Stayed here for 1 night on our family road trip. Portland can be expensive and sketchy at times. This was a top rate hotel for a reasonable price. Thanks for the great stay. We will be back! Special thanks to Issac at the front desk for his professional and attentive service.

Value: They charge you less compared to downtown hotels, and you get free parking, free wireless internet, and free breakfast. That's a lot of savings when you take a family road trip.

Staff: The staff at the front desk were very friendly and competent. Couldn't have asked for more.

Breakfast: It's free, so you can't expect anything fancy. But it's good. Fruit, bagels and cream cheese, muffins, cereal, milk, juice, pancakes, and English muffin sandwiches are the items that I remember being available. Not too shabby at all considering it's free.

Room: The room is a pretty good sized one with a separate little living room area.

The fridge is empty, which is great, because I prefer buying my own beverages from nearby stores (Target is a 2 minute drive) instead of having over priced hotel beverages. And with the fridge empty I have a place to put my own stuff in there.

The bathroom is clean. The only downside is they only have a shower in the bathroom, which made bathing my 1 and 3 year old a pain. They don't like showers. But I don't think you can blame the hotel for that.

The air conditioner is kind of big and old looking. But it sure blows out icing cold air in the summer heat.

The bed. This is my one complaint about the hotel. The mattress is way too soft. I woke up with a sore back both mornings. Although I have heard that mattress firmness is a personal preference so I'm not sure if it's just me or really the mattress.

Location: I really like the location. I wasn't flying in or out of Portland so the proximity to the airport doesn't really matter to me. But there's a Target very close by, Best Buy across the street, and some sort of chicken wings and pub kind of place right next door. Costco isn't all that far away either. As a family with small children, being close to these stores made my life really easy. We picked up some snacks and milk for the kids from Target, killed some time looking at toys at Best Buy, got take out dinner from the wings place, did some shopping at Costco (because things are just cheaper in the US. I live in Vancouver, BC) etc.

Overall, I was quite satisfied with the hotel. It's nothing extravagant, but it's very solid. I would stay there again if I were to go to Portland again.

Had a free night. In new shopping area near the airport. If you have a rental car, though, the nearest gas station is a 10 minute drive away. Had a quiet room facing another building. Otherwise the hotel is virtually on the landing path. Free breakfast but lots of restaurants near by: IHOP, Jamba Juice, IKEA (yes, they have a cafe), and more. Tax free shopping at the many nearby big box stores. Yes, it doesn't feel like you are in Portland but if you want to be near the airport or avoid the high summer rates at the downtown hotels, this is your place. Plus it is new.
