The two current shows did not wow me but the shop certainly did. Beautiful jewelry a hallmark. No charge to just enter shop.

This is a graciously organized exhibit space for contemporary crafts in a city that nurtures artists and artisans. I was wowed by an exhibit of woodworking tools by John Economaki.

John Economaki toolmaker exhibit showed some striking examples of very fine wooworking tools. He was an excellent woodworker as well, and there are several examples of his fine work.

The museum was half closed, but we came for the bowl exhibit and it was all we needed. We had read about it in the NY Times and it did not disappoint. It was not trying to be comprehensive of every great bowl in the last 100 years; rather it was mostly or all from a local collector who clearly had an eye for great work and subtle work. Some of it was well used, other pristine. The second phase of the show goes up soon. Sorry to miss it.
Good gift shop with quality well priced work. Friendly staff who love to share their thoughts if asked, and their appreciation is contagious.

This is a smallish museum but worth a stop. They have friendly folks in the galleries to pique your interest and answer any questions--so a nice, personal touch. I had read about the bowl exhibition in the NY Times and it was thought-provoking with some outstanding examples in a variety of media.
