“Great Portland Hotel”
Reviewed 27 April 2012

When you consider the reasonable rates at this pleasant well located hotel, the Paramount just might merit a 5th star. Even the basic rooms are decent sized, the beds fresh and comfortable. The staff is always friendly and obliging. Nice bar, quality sushi and Asian small plates in the restaurant. My go to Portland hotel.

Room Tip: Good Safeway 3 blocks away for wine, essentials and snacks. Some good ethnic restaurants..Indian, G...

Really enjoyed the Paramount. Great location...a short walk from the Max Line when you come in from the airport and centrally located for shopping, sightseeing and some great Portland restaurants. Staff were friendly and helpful even though the hotel was packed full for the weekend. No one seemed rushed and always had time to ask how your day was going. Loved our housekeeper who never stopped smiling as we came and went loaded with bags from several excursions including the fabulous Farmers Market, Macy's, Nordy's and a ton of local finds that you could spend hours just poking about in. We loved the specialty olive oil and vinegar shop across the street...divine! No lack of great dining is walkable in the nearby Pearl District and don't miss VooDoo Donuts. Our room was spacious, well lit and well supplied with towels and amenities ...we had everything we needed with three in the room. Would definitely recommend a stay for a lazy weekend in charming downtown Portland.

Right off the train stop, this hotel is easy to get to. It is located walking distance from everything great in downtown Portland - the farmers market, shopping, and restaurants. Well appointed and spacious rooms compared to other downtown hotels. The new building and rooms definitely aids to the polished look. Friendly and helpful staff.

My husband and I got a delux room. It had a jetted tub and a glass shower. Add some tea light candles and champagne. Very romantic! The king size bed was comfortable. We ate at the resturant in the hotel, it was ok. Go across the street to the Violetta? (Burger joint) Their food was amazing! Bugers to die gor and tasty fries & salads to go!

Lunarblue, thank you for the review! Violetta’s is indeed very tasty, I truly believe I am addicted to their truffle oil french fries.

Just finished up a 4 night 5 day stay in Portland for a training at Studio Nia downtown.
The staff was friendly and helpful (LOVED Ed the Bell Man!!). My room was spacious and clean with really comfortable beds, and it's located a short walk from everything I needed. Starbucks literally on the corner. Flying Elephant Deli with great sandwiches, salads, pastas, soups, cookies and KOMBUCHA is right across Governors Courtyard!! Short walk or free Trolley Ride to Whole Foods, Powell's Books, Pioneer Center and a load of retail stores from Mountain Hardware to Nordstroms. It's 1 block from the MAX light right stop which was about 40 mins from the airport PDX for under $3.00!! And a cab ride back to the airport was $37 plus tip. Check out Paramount Hotel!!

Room Tip: Corner rooms are larger with great views.

We were staying in downtown Portland for a couple of nights and we wanted a place that was convenient to access various areas of downtown. We loved the location which was just blocks from both the streetcar and MAX light rail. It was just a block away from the South Park Blocks where you can take a great walk. It is also close to Pioneer Courthouse Square and lots of shopping.

The service was great. We were always greeted in a friendly manner. The valets staff was speedy with gettng our car when we needed it.

The room was really nice. We had a view of the new Director Park so we could see the goings on in the city. The hotel room was quiet and we were able to sleep in thanks to the nice dark curtains.

We will return again.

Very spacious room and bathroom. The jacuzzi in the bathroom was great after long days of walking around town and hiking in the hills. The bed was very comfortable for sleeping and lounging. The chaise chair was also a nice touch. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. All together a wonderful hotel and very good value.
