A friend and I stayed at the Paramount at the end of January for a mommie's weekend away and overall, it was a great stay. For starters, the Paramount is in an excellent location in the middle of downtown Portland within easy walking distance to restaurants, shopping, the Fox Tower movie theater and the Max (lightrail). It's also right across the street Directors Park, which on a nice day is a good place to grab a sandwich from Elephant’s Deli and watch people playing with the giant chess set or in the summer kids playing in the fountain. Check in was quick and easy and our room was comfortable. We paid extra for a room with a balcony which I don’t think I would do again. They call it a Juliette balcony, which basically means it is too narrow to even fit a chair. Ours overlooked the side street and the view was not much different from what we could see from in the room. I did appreciate that our room had a fridge with a little freezer and a coffee maker (with Starbucks coffee, of course) but I wish there has been bottled water as well. I know it’s always overpriced but since the hotel doesn’t have a sundries shop, and our floor didn’t have vending machines or an ice machine (it was one floor down) I would have been happy to pay it. One other interesting thing to note about the room: Portland prides itself on being green and the Paramount supports that by doing away with the individual bath items in favor of dispensers mounted in the shower. You can still get the individual items if you ask for them – which I was tempted to do because I really liked the shower gel.

One other thing to note: if you know anything about downtown Portland you know it basically shuts down at 11 pm and the area around the Paramount is no different. The hotel bar/restaurant closed at 10. The restaurant/bars within walking distance closed at 11. So if you’re looking for later nightlife you’ll need to drive or take the Max. And keep in mind that the hotel’s front door is locked after 10 pm (you use your room key card to get in).

Overall I found the hotel to be reasonably priced, well located and comfortable. I would stay at the Paramount again.

We stayed here 1/1/14....Our stay was wonderful from start to finish. The lobby was beautiful and sparkling clean. Our room was clean, bed was very comfortable, and it had a large jacuzzi tub. The price was $129/night. We ate at a great asian restaurant just two blocks away. There is a major construction project going on a block away, but we did not hear any of it in our room. We will certainly return.

Just stayed a night here. Used booking.com and got a room for $129. A real find! And deal at that price. The reception staff could not have been nicer. The king bed is very comfy and the bathroom is good sized with jacuzzi tub and separate good size shower. We had drinks at their bar downstairs and a bite of food. The bartender was great and the street cauliflower totally delicious. All in all just a perfect little getaway. I wont stay anywhere else in Portland from now on!

Overnight stay was great. Doorman was very friendly. Check-in was very fast and the staff was very friendly. Room was very clean and comfortable. Location was perfect with great public transportation, restaurants, and many places to shop. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor. No noise from the hallways.

Absolutely wonderful and accommodating. Left something in valeted auto and bell staff retrieved promptly and happily. Central to downtown everything ...room very comfortable...parking fee a little high and posted check in time 4:00 pm (could be earlier if you ask)...Staff fabulous. Will stay here again and again.

Stayed here at Paramount Portland for 4 nights and it was great value for money. For only $120 per night got a spacious room on the 6th floor overlooking the square in front of the hotel. Had a spa bath in the bathroom and free wifi included in the price. Very central location and basically caught the tram service everywhere

It's a little spare, in lobby and in the room, but this is refreshing. I asked for a nice room and we got one, They weren't busy on a Sunday in early January. We had a corner room, top floor and could see forever. Service was excellent. We took advantage of the great deals on travelportland.com. Downtown hotels with decent rates, including parking (huge!) and continental breakfast. Even a booklet of coupons. I like their location, close to Pioneer Place, the main square, and to the Portland Art Museum. We'd try it again.

Room Tip: try for a corner room if they aren't busy
