This hotel was a great choice for our small family reunion. It had very helpful staff, and a nice lobby to sit in while we waited for our group to assemble.
Rooms were clean, maid service was excellent, and everyone who worked at the hotel was friendly.
I especially liked the interior theme of bridges - and enjoyed looking at the different bridge/sculpture/tables that were on each floor opposite the elevator.
Our room, 1207, looked out over Director's Square and Teacher's fountain, so it was fun to watch the kids and adults playing in the pool and the other activities that were taking place in the park.
The hotel restaurant hadn't opened yet when we were there in early July, but there is a Starbucks next door, and "Elephants in the Park" has a deli on one side of the square. I would recommend skipping The Fish House, but that's my personal opinion.
Location is excellent. It is a short walk to Pioneer Square with its admirable information booth, a whole block of food carts, Powell's, and shopping. It is a short walk to the nearest light rail stop.
All in all, an excellent hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing Director's Park.

My son and I traveled to Portland last week to look at some nearby colleges and my best friend suggested the Paramount Hotel in downtown Portland. My friend knew EXACTLY what he was talking about, because he couldn't have chosen a better place for us to stay. Everybody from the knowledgeable and accommodating front desk staff, to the friendly waitresses in Swank, to all the courteous housekeeping staff made for a restful stay. If I needed directions to get out to the University of Portland, the doorman made sure I understand which train would get me there, If I needed dinner reservations---no problem. The Paramount staff was always happy to help. My room was always clean and comfortable each evening when I returned as well. Whether for vacation with the family, or for work---you can't beat staying downtown @ the Paramount. Everything is within walking distance or a quick train ride away.

For location and wheelchair accessibility, this cannot be beat. Hotel was wonderful, perfect location. Staff were fabulous, quick to respond to needs, and accommodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this location to anyone and for those people who need a wheelchair accessible room with a roll-in shower, this is perfect; the hotel staff even allowed us to choose the right shower chair to meet our needs. Very excellent restaurants across the street. Very importantly, there is also a frozen yogurt place, Tartberry, across the street.
We will return and are very unlikely to use any other hotel in Portland: WE LOVE THIS PLACE!

Room Tip: You can't lose but watch the night life from your balcony if possible.

A little friendlier staff could improve this place...reception staff was stiff and short on greeting, concierge was hardly around, and doormen were not opening doors (normally this would not bother me but their doors were very heavy to open, especially when I'm carrying g packages.)
Rooms were clean but they need to leave bottles of water...when we asked for water from the front desk on the way out, they told us to go to the vending machines located at another floor. I noticed that they gave away bottles of water to other guests (favoritism?).
What's good ? The location was perfect..in the heart of downtown near Pioneer Square and great restaurants and food trucks. Love the close proximity to public transportation. The room was spacious and well lit with two large windows. The shower/tub can use a handlebar . I would stay again but would tell the front desk people to be more helpful, friendly and available.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room

We let our travel agent book this hotel and she was spot on. We had a front corner room, 6th floor, overlooking the square. It was charming to see the activities taking place, with kids playing in the wading fountain, life size chess being played and any musical groups giving everyone a little lift and enjoyment. Room was great size, bath quite sufficient as well. Lighting over the sink was a bit poor, but if you don't obsess with putting on makeup, it's easily overlooked. Rooms very quiet, even with construction going on across the square. There were two new restaurants just opened and staff was lacking info., so we went else where for dinner. The city is walkable and lets you see all the different sections with different personalities. Don't forget to try Cacao for a serious chocolate experience. We never had a bad cup of coffee or meals! I can't say enough about Portland, so now it's your turn visit.

Room Tip: No need to have a corner room, as possibly there will be an office bldg. and don't need the extr...

I've stayed at this hotel twice now and always enjoy my stay. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are spacious and well equipped, and the location couldn't be better. All the downtown restaurants are close by and the light rail is only a block or two away, making it easy to access from PDX.

I have a great corner room on the 14th floor, very quiet with a view over the city. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a large desk and a nice corner chair for reading. The bathroom was fabulous, with a huge shower and a large tub with jets (which sadly I didn't get time to use!)

Room Tip: Higher rooms seem quieter, plus you have a nice view of the city. There's often an event with mu...

What a lovely experience! Well-appointed rooms, incredibly comfortable beds, friendly staff, beautiful building, ideal location right on Director's Park. I was in town for an annual conference and have already made my reservations for next year.
