“Great hotel in convenient location”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

The Paramount Hotel hosted 18 people for a corporate event in Portland. The experience was great from check-in until we left. They were very accommodating to us and took care of a few last-minute requests, which made our stay all the more enjoyable.

Look at a street map of Portland and its natural to define the downtown as that area bordered by the Interstate to the west, the Columbia River to the east, and Burnside and Clay streets to the north and south, respectively. The Paramount Hotel is just about in the center. The Hotel is flanked by SW Park and SW 9th. Walk to the south and you can stroll through park like settings to the Art Museum and Concert Hall, to the north for serious shopping and city's famous Pioneer Square. Five of our favorite restaurants are within a two block radius of the Hotel and include both casual and upscale dining alternatives.

We first stayed at the Paramount in 2007 and continue to return. With about 150 rooms on 15 floors, the feel is quite 'boutiqueish' and very little has changed in seven years to disturb that very desirable, cozy feeling. The unpretentious, genuinely, courteous staff, are all very helpful, efficient and responsive to requests. For this stay, when I made the reservation, I asked for a specific room and an additional amenity and at check in, when I inquired as to whether our requests were honored, I received a smiling 'of course' from the young man.

With location, size and consistency in their favor, The Paramount has been and will continue to be, our Portland address.

Room Tip: The 2nd floor 'Paramount' rooms boast patio like balconies.

The Paramount was a great place to stay to see Portland. The staff seemed genuinely interested in making sure we were comfortable, enjoying ourselves and were served promptly. Everything about the hotel was comfortable and well maintained. I especially liked the soap/shampoo dispensers in the showers. It made me feel less wasteful. All this, plus a very central location to see the city! Great restaurants in walking distance, and close to the streetcars.

Green Features: The Paramount seems committed to the environment and I was happy that they made an effort to lessen our impact while traveling. Love the dispensers vs little bottles of shampoo, etc.

This hotel is designed both to celebrate Portland and to make each guest feel welcome and comfortable. The bed and pillows were more comfortable than my own at home. Everything was immaculate, and maid service was prompt. The personnel in the hotel were very helpful; never having been to Portland before, I required a number of suggestions: All they gave were terrific fun. They care.

Room Tip: Get on the park side. Try for at least a balcony.

Green Features: Everything was environmentally friendly. In addition to the sheets and towels practices you find all over, they had a small recycle center in the room. Even the dry cleaner they use was green. Terrific attention to diminishing one's footprint.

The Paramount is always my hotel of choice when I visit Portland. It has the best location with the nicest amenities. The staff is always top notch and it's obvious customer service is at the core of their training.

This is a lovely hotel. The rooms are very spacious and very comfortable. It is in an excellent location. Easy to reach from the train station. Great shopping and cafés right outside the front door. The staff were very helpful. If you are in Portland stay at this hotel, you won't regret it.

This hotel was a great choice for our small family reunion. It had very helpful staff, and a nice lobby to sit in while we waited for our group to assemble.
Rooms were clean, maid service was excellent, and everyone who worked at the hotel was friendly.
I especially liked the interior theme of bridges - and enjoyed looking at the different bridge/sculpture/tables that were on each floor opposite the elevator.
Our room, 1207, looked out over Director's Square and Teacher's fountain, so it was fun to watch the kids and adults playing in the pool and the other activities that were taking place in the park.
The hotel restaurant hadn't opened yet when we were there in early July, but there is a Starbucks next door, and "Elephants in the Park" has a deli on one side of the square. I would recommend skipping The Fish House, but that's my personal opinion.
Location is excellent. It is a short walk to Pioneer Square with its admirable information booth, a whole block of food carts, Powell's, and shopping. It is a short walk to the nearest light rail stop.
All in all, an excellent hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing Director's Park.

Green Features: Hotel seemed to be concerned about the environment.
