“Great riverside location”
Reviewed 6 October 2013 via mobile

What a great location for a Sunday brunch (overlooking a quiet river with no industry or huge skyscrapers) which is what we did after staying in a very well appointed room with everything we needed. Thoroughly recommend.

Excellent place to take a break from the traditional busy, noisy, high end hotel. Has a boutique type appeal including spa. The rooms have a beautiful decor, homey atmosphere and a private balcony facing the river. I treated my in-laws to a week end stay for their 14th anniversary and was not disappointed by their reaction "it was an absolutely wonderful room".

First time in Portland, we chose the River's Edge, and we're glad we did! Found the modern hotel on travelportland.com after asking for river view hotels. We booked a river view room and received one on the 4th floor, filtered view of the river, with wifi & flat screen tv.. Hotel in a park-like location with filtered views of the river (tall trees has grown up to 5th floor); and located in the South Wharf district, a quiet business park. Breakfast included in a river view restaurant, complimentary spa, free valet parking, and coupon deals if booked through travelportland.com. Loved the location, excellent service of staff, gorgeous river view at the restaurant, and quiet, relaxing admosphere. Breakfast was good as you gaze the extent of the river with joggers passing by. Rooms were a little larger than average hotel rooms with a large balcony. The hotel is away from the hustle and bustle (noise) of downtown Portland, but a trolley car is 2 blocks away. (Can't hear any traffic or street car noise.) Get the $5 all day pass and ride all the cars & buses to see Portland. Go to see the Lan Su Gardens and to the 35floor of the Portland Hotel after lunch to see a 360 degree of the Portland skyline with no crowds. When in Portland, we'll only stay at the River's Edge!

Room Tip: Choose a river view room, higher floor. We asked for a standard river view room but on the 4th or 5...

A very nice, super-clean and very comfortable hotel, with the friendliest staff and comfiest beds. Large, comfortable room with large couch and great bathroom. Very fresh - saw no signs of worn anything which previous reviewers referred to. Gorgeous restaurant setting overlooking the river - good breakfast! Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We were assigned a hillside room so didn't have a view of the river, but we arrived in the eveni...

Spent two great nights at River's Edge Hotel and Spa. Had a River view Suite which was perfect --- huge room, nice view from the 5th floor, clean and everything worked. The private balcony was nice too!

The old style TVs were no big deal for us. the two TVs in the room worked fine and were plenty big enough. The Internet also worked well.

The only odd thing, which everyone else comments on, is the valet parking. Seems like folks should be able to park their own cars since the lot is right across from the hotel.

The bar is a great place to hang out with a fabulous view of the river, decent drinks and good food. We had complimentary breakfast in the restaurant which was a super-nice touch.

The location is nice if you want to feel like you're close to the city but also in a more scenic place. The bus stop is a block or so away, there are biking trails and it's a quick drive to downtown.

The staff throughout the hotel were great - friendly, helpful, easygoing.

Spent a great weekend at the River's Edge. Staff Was very friendly and helpful. Location was great with a short drive to downtown, airport and hiking on the Gorge. Ordered room service and the food was quite good as well. Workout facilities had everything very impressive for a hotel. Even experienced great spa treatments. I had a deep tissue massage and my wife had a body polish. Both were exceptional. Overall great experience. Will Stay again when in Portland.

Room Tip: Had a "view of the river" Great room but cant really see river through trees. Balcony was...

After booking our stay I read the reviews and starting kicking myself for not having done that first. That said, we had a wonderful stay over the weekend and the hotel far surpassed our expectations! Everyone was super friendly and helpful, as lots of reviewers have pointed out. However we had a number of unexpected delights. Namely: the hotel recently upgraded their internet and it was trouble free and fast, bicycles are provided free of charge and we had a lovely ride along the waterfront path, we didn't arrive till after 10pm so the spa was closed but we were able to have a lovely soak after we checked out in the morning, loved all the fresh water with melon in both the lobby and spa, and last but certainly not least - the room was modern, clean and very comfortable!

Green Features: I got to park for FREE because I drive a prius. Yay!
