I stayed here for 2 nights with my mom and it was perfect for us. Great location in NW, walking distance to downtown, but even better was exploring the NW neighborhood. Also walking distance to the Japanese and rose gardens.
Wednesday is free wine tasting and since it was brewers week when we were there they had a keg as well.
There are lots of options for breakfast and there's always fresh ground coffee you can make yourself.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was huge, clean and comfortable. We were on the first floor on the parking lot side so no view, but no street noise either. Our neighbors did have their TV on for a while and either it was on high volume or the walls are thin. It didn't end up being an issue.
Overall I would stay here again and recommend to all.

Hello!

Thank you for this fabulous review! We are so happy to hear that you and your mom enjoyed your stay with us. Sounds like you were able to really experience our lovely city by visiting the Japanese and Rose Gardens too. Thank you for your comments about our spacious clean suites, breakfast and weekly wine reception! How perfect that you were here during Oregon Craft Beer month to sample some delicious local beer.

We will see you next time!

We wanted to stay somewhere that had the quirky flavor of Portland, and this is it! It's a smaller property than the giant chain hotels, and feels more homey. The decor is fun everywhere from the lobby to the halls to the rooms. The rooms are spacious and well laid out. Beds are comfy. The staff were great at giving suggestions for places to eat and get coffee. It's a nice location too. Easy to get to the best parts of town. We were adventurous and walked all the way from the hotel to the lower east side, hitting all the good spots (like Powell's) in between. Would absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the street rather than the parking lot (though you will get a bit of noise fro...

Hello!

Thank you for this excellent review! We are thrilled to hear that you loved the Portland culture and our funky décor. We are a one of a kind place and so happy to hear that you are a fan. Thank you for your kind remarks regarding staffs' knowledge of all the things to do in town as well. Sounds like you really experienced Portland as there is no better way to know the town until you've walked from the NW area to lower east side, way to go!

We look forward to your next visit!

I started staying here in 2005 and now I plan every Portland trip around their availability. I love the staff, location, fun interior, balconies and energy. I have 4 favorite hotels in the U.S. and this is one of them!

We just returned from a trip to Portland, Oregon. What a great city to walk. Our trip was enhanced by the Inn at Northup Station. It was colorful, fun and in a great location. The streetcar stops right out front, making it easy to get around the city. It's only a couple of blocks from 23 ave., a great street full of shops, restaurants and ice cream supreme! There is plenty of parking if you have a car. They serve a pretty good breakfast and there is a cool little kitchen in every room.
I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat!

Thank you so much for your review. Really sounds like you had an excellent trip to Portland and we are happy to have been a part of it! NW 23rd Ave. is excellent and from your comments you made a visit to Salt and Straw, a delicious local ice cream company right around the corner. Thank you again for this review and we look forward to your next stay!

What a unique and delightful hotel this is! The rooms are large, the beds very comfy and the staff is friendly, helpful and welcoming. I love the colorful and funky decor and the bowls full of Star Burst and taffy in the lobby. There are a number of games available for guest use - we had a rousing game of Clue!
The breakfast was very good and included in the room price. We all agreed it was one of the best places we've stayed. All the bright colors and happy staff; it just oozes fun! Would love to stay here again!

Room Tip: All the rooms are great!

Thank you so much for this review! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your colorful and spacious suite! Thank you also for noticing and enjoying the fun things we offer to our guests in the lobby. The candy in combination with a fun board game is definitely a dangerously fun combo!

Thanks again for your review and we can’t wait to have you sleep with us again!

My husband and I loved this hotel. All of the details that went into the decor really made it feel like a fun place to stay. We got a king suite with a balcony. If we had to do it over again, next time I wouldn't get the balcony because we hardly used it and there is the rooftop deck if you feel like going outside. The location is just busy enough with adequate restaurants but not so busy that it feels overwhelming for out-of-towners. The streetcar was very easy to use and the hotel gives you free passes every day (valid for 2 hours). The breakfast was good and completely adequate but wasn't anything extraordinary (toast, bagels, fruit, waffles, granola bars, cereal). I would definitely stay here again. We stayed on a Sunday-Wednesday and didn't have any trouble finding parking.

Hi!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the TripAdvisor community. We are happy to hear that you took advantage of our complimentary streetcar passes to get around town. You also described the Nob Hill neighborhood perfectly! Tons of great restaurants all within walking distance without the hustle and bustle of downtown traffic, but still just a quick streetcar ride away when you’re well and ready for it!

Thank you again for this great review and we can’t wait to see you again!

Fun, Funky and just a really great place to stay.
The location of the hotel made it very easy to get around and explore Portland on foot or by transit.
The hotel itself had large sized rooms, kitchens and all the accessories you would need.
The staff was helpful and happy to help.
There is an outdoor patio upstairs that was comfortable and a sociable place to just to hang out after a long day.
Loved it so much we actually tried to extend our stay but nothing was available.
oh well, will just have to visit again!
